I got my compostela today without any problem and am confused. Do you need to be walking for religious reasons to get a distance certificate?
I didn't walk for religious reasons, I'm not Christian and didn't want the compostela, but I was given one anyway when I said I wanted the distance...
Ok thanks for the replies. I have plenty of space so 2 stamps a day it is.
One more question... I started in Sevilla, filled one credencial and started on a second credencial a few days ago. Does only the last 100km matter? I mean they won't even need to see my first credencial from Sevilla?
The end of my camino is finally in sight. I'll be arriving in Ourense tomorrow.
I have heard people say they will be getting 2 stamps a day in their credencial during the last 100 km. Is this really necessary?
Once I arrive in Santiago, do I need to get a stamp before going to the...
I voted for number 4. Now that the internet and smart phones are here there is no going back for me.
Aside from using my phone to keeping in touch with friends and family, these are a few of the other reasons I need my phone:
Having a phone lets me make room reservations easily when I go...
I have no idea about the number who quit. But I can reply as someone currently on the Camino who wants to quit. I am half way finished with the Via de la Plata and the only thing keeping me from quitting is the embarrassment of having to tell everyone that I quit, and also cause I want to lose...
About a week before I arrived in Salamanca I asked my mom in the US to send a few things I couldn't find in Spain to the hotel I would be staying at. Instead of the package, I get a letter from the post office telling me my package is in customs with instructions on how to get it. Go online, do...
After 8 days of rest in Sevilla, ibuprofin, new shoes, and compression sleeves for my lower legs I am walking again. I'm walking more slowly and stretching frequently. I took 2 days to go from Real de la Jara to Monesterio. I wanted to take it easy my first 2 days back on the camino so I...
Do you know the name of this green clay?
This also reminded me.. is staying an extra day at an albergue not allowed? Does it make a difference if its municipal or private?
I probably was walking too fast. I'll try to do it slower once I start again.
I'm in Sevilla now relaxing. After one day of rest my legs have improved slightly. They've gone from it being agony to walk to just normal painful shin splints.
Thanks for the advice everyone.
I've thought about it and decided to go back to Sevilla tomorrow and rest till next week. I'll also probably get some new shoes there.
When I come back I'll try to take it a bit slower. I can take as much time as I want, so there's no reason for me to hurry.
I'm currently on the Via de la Plata. Shin splints started during the 2nd day of walking and hurt the whole day. I was ok for about the first half of the 3rd day (the 29km day) but they got pretty bad during the second half. So I took a rest day in Almaden de la Plata. Also bought more...
