    Orthotics for Morton's Neuroma

I walked the Camino Portuguese in May and deal with the same issue as you with my feet. First, buy wide shoes! I had Altra trail runners with a natural foot shape. They also have a zero rise from back to front so they don't put added pressure on the ball of your foot. I then took out the foot...

Lessons learned after 900 km on the Camino

Excellent list! I finished in May. Would only add 2 others. 1. Pack ultra light. You don't need much. 2. Bring athletic tape. I used it for wrapping a blister on the end of my big toe after a day of downhill walking and to wrap my wrist when I tripped on a cobblestone and wrenched it.

Camino Portuguese Coastal Route - Starting in Porto 26 June 2014

Just returned from walking the coastal route. We saw other walkers, but was not crowded. Thst said, when we arrived in Santiago there were 1400 pilgrims arriving that day. The camino has become more popular! We used booking.com and booked the night before for the next day. No problem finding...

    Accommodation in Porto

Autocorrect, urgh! POET'S INN is recommended, not Pet's Inn, lol!

    Accommodation in Porto

Pet's Inn is a very nice Hostel in Porto. We just stayed there before leaving on our camino.

Altra Lone Peak 4 Trail-Running Shoes?

Just finished the Portugues Coastal route in the Lone Peak Altra's. No blisters until the day we had lots of down hills. The wide toebox allowed my feet to slide forward and I got blisters on the ends of 2 toes. Only ones I got during the Csmino. Otherwise they were good. I would recommend...

    Continuous itching after returning home

I hate to say it, but it sounds like scabies, also known as mange. My dog caught it and we all caught it from him, but easily passed between humans. It is a tiny mite and needs prescription meds from your doctor plus thorough cleaning of living areas and clothing. Vacuum daily until itching...

Portuguese Coastal Way - Porto to Santiago

On coastal route now and having issues with Tuitran transferring my pack. Seems they will not pick up from some hostels or pensions if they do not have full time reception. Also quoted 7E then changed it to 8E.

    Senda Litoral Route

By the way, we used booking.com so they have access to only some of the rooms available.

    Senda Litoral Route

We are booking hostels because all the albergues we found were booked full so I believe you can call ahead to book an albergues.

    Senda Litoral Route

We are presently on the Coastal Camino Portuguese and are just leaving on our 3rd day of walking. We have walked two 15 mile days and booked alburgeas the night before. So far it has worked out, but there are lots of pilgrims walking this route and many have been fully booked by the prior night...

We are on the train heading to Porto from Lisbon to meet my cousin. Friday, we begin our first Camino on the Coastal Route. Some trepidation, but mostly excited!

    Time to buy new Altras

I have low Altra Lone PeK 3.5 and love them. My husband just bought high top LP 4.0. The lacing is different in that the lace goes through a tunnel of fabric rather than a hole. The fabric on the top of the foot is also different...thin, but has a plastic feel to it. He loves them. Both are the...

    Lodging in Lisbon

We are flying into Lisbon and taking the bus to Porto to start our camino on the coastal trail. Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent hotel in Lisbon that isn't too far from the bus station? Looking for a hotel rather than a hostel while we check out Lisbon. Thanks for any suggestions!
