Thank you to everyone who took the time to reply! I appreciate the advice, information and suggestions! While I'd love to cut across from A Ponte do Porcos through Olieros to A Coruña, after a bit of research on Google Maps, there are simply too many places where there is no safe way to walk...
Hola Perigrinos!
My wife and I are planning to return to Spain next year to walk another Camino with a few family members. My wife is from A Coruña, so she'd like to visit her hometown as a part of our Camino. We'd also like to get a Compostella. So, I thought we could add A Coruña to the...
Hi Kelly Ann,
When we got back from our Camino in 2016, my wife (who is from A Coruna) and I Googled "Galicia real estate" and got a number of hits that were interesting. Property prices vary wildly! Here's a link to one of the places that lists houses in Spain...
We traveled throughout Galicia when we walked the Camino (my wife is from A Coruna city) and it was lovely. Pollution was not an issue. We are seriously considering moving there when we retire.
Here is a link on air quality in Europe...
Hi Kathi,
We'd like to from A Coruna and Ferrol. This option allows us to walk both versons of the Ingles and only add an extra couple of days. By cutting over to A Coruna from Betanzos or Bruma, we only add about 20km (or less), which we can easily do in a day. This will allow us to experience...
Yes, I think as long as we start from Ferrol, even if we detour to A Coruna, we'll be able to get Compostellas. We will have walked more than 100km and we will have walked the entire distance from Ferrol to Santiago, just with an added detour to A Coruna.
Has anyone walked from Ferrol to A Coruna and then on to Santiago? My wife is from A Coruna and I'd like to walk from Ferrol to A Coruna and then go on to Santiago when we do the Camino Ingles. I know it's possible to walk from Ferrol to A Coruna, but wondered if anyone else has done it. I know...
My wife and I used sock liners, either silk or synthetic under our Fox River hiking socks and neither of us developed any blisters. We bought our boot 1/2 size larger than normal, but I think socks these days might be a little thinner than in the old days. Our children, who didn't listen about...
Thornley- Next time you're here in the States, forget the Bud or Miller and try one of the thousands of available craft brews. You'll actually enjoy them and you can experience a unique, local beer, rather than the massive conglomerates.
As others have mentioned, instant coffee is widely available in supermarkets, so you should have no trouble finding Nescafe or something similar.
Regarding electrolytes, my step-son and daughter-in-law were able to find an electrolyte drink similar to Gatorade, which was tasty and effective...
