    Montane Trailblazer 44L

Both my Mrs & I have one and find it a pretty comfortable pack for multi day trips. My Mrs added some extra padding to waist strap (shoulder pad straps available on eBay) I don't find I need them.

    Montane Trailblazer 44L

Yes needs a rain cover as the hydration tube hole gapes and directs rain inside.

    Montane Trailblazer 44L

Used it to carry up to 9 kg. Like it. Few quibbles, like the hydration hose hole letting rain in and the small side mesh pockets. Otherwise very comfortable.

    Walking meditation

Some basic tips can help your Walking Meditation/Contemplation. I would suggest trying Thich Nhat Hanhs little book "How to Walk". Simple but for many transformative whether you have faith or none. He was Bhuddhist, but the principles are the same in the Christian Contemplative tradition...

    Dealing with a broken ankle

Give it 12 months. Good sports physiotherapist, walking poles for balance, consider a DEXA bone scan to check you don't have osteoporosis. With regard to shoes/boots its difficult. There is an argument for more simple shoes rather than boots. You have more awareness of foot position in simpler...

    Walking Poles on Ryanair?

I am flying Ryan Air in May & will not chance poles as cabin or loose hold luggage. The simplest option is some folding z poles (not telescoping, too long) My Lekis fold down to 40cm. I suspect if you try to add extra hold luggage now you have booked you will pay a premium, so invest the money...

    Via di Francesco

Hi John, I am planning to start in La Verna next May, did you use public transport to get to La Verna? Any advice on how to get there appreciated.

    Day 1 Birmingham to Almarie

About to fly out of Almeria. Arrived back last night on bus after 9 day Camino to Granada. Splendid first pilgrim experience, but only met 1 other pilgrim! Most days saw no one but the great Hospitalarios. Suspect weather is improving, but we had snow, rain & cold last 2 days in the mountains...

    Advice on a respectable Donativo

What would be a respectable/reasonable donation at hostels using the Donativo system for a pilgrim in employment?

    Rain Rain Rain around Andalucia

I am no expert on Andalucian weather, but from here on the North West fringes of Europe it looks like we are in for a late spring with more likelihood for cold & rain than would be usual at this time of year. The Jet Stream keeps diving too far south. We are starting from Almeria first week of...

Mozarabe credencial & other basic questions

We hope to walk from Almeria to Grenada in early April. First Spanish pilgrimage. Do we need to register/obtain a credencial in Almeria? Do pilgrims still routinely have a badge or shell on their pack? We are working on our Spanish, but suspect it will not be adequate for intelligible phone...

    Mozarabe accomodation & advice

Thankyou Laurie for your reassurance and advice, we (my wife & daughter) will be setting out in early April. We are working on our Spanish, but suspect it will be too rudimentary for booking accomodation phone calls.

    Mozarabe accomodation & advice

Preparing to walk Almeria to Grenada in April 2018. It will be our first Camino experience. I see a number of pilgrims are starting next Spring. I note that there is limited accomodation & long distances in between. How do pilgrims manage if you arrive & the beds are all gone, or you have phoned...

    Camino on Gran Canaria

We are just back from a reverse walk along much of this beautiful Camino. The reason for the reverse routing was our lack of knowledge about accomodation etc. We had a splendid 4 days continuous journey, it was tough, but spectacular, we camped and used hotels. The weather at the end of...
