    Musical instruments on the Camino.

I never travel without a ukulele and have taken on on both my caminos as well as numerous other trips. As someone who is not keen on hearing other poor musicians banging out bad songs, I tend to take it somewhere solitary and play quietly to soothe myself. On one occasion, however, I was...

Wild Camping option and sufficient gear

Hi there. I walked the Norte a couple of years ago in September. I carried a tarp, groudsheet, bivvy bag, inflatable sleeping mat, sleeping bag, rocket stove and pan/mug as well as the usual. In the event we camped out twice, once wild and once on a site. We averaged over 30km per day but by the...

    Del Norte in 30 days?

Shouldn't be a problem. We did it in 2018 from Biarritz to Finisterre in 35 days so from Irun to SdC in 30. I wouldn't say that this was hard going (although not a stroll!). We had time to see things on the way too. I would walk from Gijon to Aviles: it's not all bad by any means and you get a...

What's going on? Camino del Norte hard?

Comparing the CF from SJPP and the Norte from Irun for difficulty, I would say that the CF is much less hard going in terms of climbs. There were fewer people doing it (last September) than when I did the CF, but most importantly for me was the fact that for much of the coastal path the towns...

Starting Camino del Norte in two days. Advice needed

Currently walking it. We began in Biarritz but crossed into Spain at Hondarribia. Made for the albergue just outside, Capitan Tximista. Claimed to be full when we got there although no sign of life. Walked back to Amute where San Francisco offered a well hidden but brilliant albergue. We got a a...

    Number of sellos/stamps needed

This is what I thought to be the case, but, in September 2016, when I went for my compostela with 1 per day until the last 100 km, I was told at the desk that I should have had 2 everyday. This did not please me, having ng walked from St J PDP.
