    Ourense hospitaleros?

I stayed there early Oct. 2014-the hospitalera was efficient, charming and helpful. Also passed by in the spring and the albergue was closed due, I am told, to " local politics ". Perhaps there are issues which are affecting staff.

    Rain...what rain?

Actually, it was only the last three days in August but, man it was hot! We tried to leave between 6-7 am and get most of the heavy walking done by noon, at least in the first few weeks. The temperature rose steadily every day from 7am and didn't stop rising until about 7 at night. Walking in...

    Rain...what rain?

Arrived in Santiago on Oct. 9 (42 days) having completed the Via de Plata from Seville . Happy to say that in the first 39 days we walked in the rain only once! Galicia wasn't so kind as we got soaked 2 of the last 3 days--but it just didn't matter by then. Feeling very fortunate--many thanks!

    VDLP Sept 2014

You never know---we have lots of time so we'll probably take a few days off. We have no interest in racing through this.

Nice meeting you and Pauline and I hope we meet up again. We are presently about 10k south of Galisteo. Here's a pic of the Plaza Mayor from our night:

    Hospitales or Pola de Allande?

I walked the Hospitales in April this year. Having not walked the other route, I can't compare. I can say, however, that the Hospitales offered up one of the most spectacular days I have spent on any camino. If (make that "when") I walk the Primitivo again, I wouldn't hesitate taking the same...

    Disappointed with my hiking shoes

Different styles and brands work well for some, not so much as others. The secret is: just take something you are used to wearing at home, be they runners, hikers or whatever. For most people, it is as simple as that. I walked 800k on the Frances, the Primitivo and the Sanabrese this spring...

Thoughts? - people getting a compostela without walking the final 100k

I truly don't understand why anyone would want to misrepresent themselves in this fashion, or, in fact, even be capable of doing so. Though I have walked several caminos, quickly, completely and never missing an inch, such falseness is something I could not do --I just wouldn't have the strength.

Try to hang in there. There will be many fabulous days coming your way. Best of luck, my friend.

Help Me Drop Some Pack Weight!

Not sure what you mean by that. I brought some rather dressy clothes on my last camino, this spring--I thoroughly enjoyed walking to dinner wearing something other than the same stuff I had been sweating in day in and out. I am going back for two months at the end of the summer and fully expect...

    Borres Albergue

Glad to hear that!! That was the worst Albergue on my Primitivo this year. The Bar was a delightful surprise though.
