I put the things I want to wash in the shower with me…soap them up then use my feet as I’m washing myself to “agitate” my clothes. Personally, I don’t think things get really DIRTY, more like sweaty…that can be rinsed out with a light soaping.
I hang on to those plastic bags that our disposable bed covers come in to dispose of the napkin from last night’s dinner—after use. Of course, keep a hand sanitizer handy too.
I walked from Paris to St. Jean d’Angeley from Aug 3-Sept. 18. I used the Miam Miam Dodo as my basic guide. I’m an 84 yo woman traveling alone. 20 km per day was pretty much my limit. I could find accommodation without too much trouble. The federations of st. Jacques would be helpful to...
I walked Paris/Saint-Jean d-Angeles this past August, September. I’m an 84 YO woman traveling alone and can only go about 12 miles max each day. It was a challenge finding places at such short intervals, yet somehow I did it. MMDD is a huge help. And the advice from Threewishes above about...
The one I bought was perfect for our 8 1/2 x 11...I just measured my compostela (from 2011) and it's is indeed 8 1/2 x 11. The newer ones might be the A4 that others have referred to.

I went to a shop where they sell books and/or office supplies. Bought a plastic folder that tucks nicely into the pocket against my back in my backpack. So I didn't have to roll or fold it.
My pack is a Gossamer 40 ltr. weighing in at 800 grams. Going soon on my 3rd (with this pack), but you have encouraged me to winnow even a few more things out to get the weight down. I'm an 84 y,o. 100 lb. woman. I try to keep the pack weight below 13 lbs.
I was thinking of trying for a visa, but the health insurance was the “straw” that broke my back…as well as my pocketbook. I’m 84 and it was outrageous, and I’m in great health. Coming over this summer for another Camino…this time in France.
