When we walked earlier this year - there were a team of council workers who were out litter picking - this was after Sarria! First time I have ever seen this !
I too had to dispose of my telescopic poles at Santiago. Apparently it’s the airport’s policy and I presume nothing to do with Ryanair! I tried to explain that I had successfully flown in with them in my rucksack on Ryanair ( albeit to Zaragoza!) but the official also lied about my husband...
We walked the start of the Invierno but saw no pilgrims along the way. The start is beautiful but very lonely. Well signposted but not very good in Ponferrada! The sign is damaged and only half of it there. We decided to go back to Ponferrada and continue along the CF as far more sociable!
If any pilgrim is due to stay at the monastery in St Juan de Ortega, despite the website saying it’s open, it is indeed closed! No beds!
So tonight several pilgrims have had to walk further towards Ages or beyond as the only Albergue is fully booked! So many have had to walk only to find those...

We are also walking the Invierno at the beginning of April - had no replies form e mails, so as someone else suggested on this forum, I tried Whatsapp and then I actually got a reply! So have managed to make some reservations in advance. Buen Camino

After having done some research about accommodation in Rodeiro, it would appear that Albergue Guerra is closed and according to their Hostel Latiza facebook page (don't know when it was posted) but Latiza is only open at weekends. Is this the case?
So would Hostal Albergue Carpinteiras...
