I know, that's why I've put the "complete" in quotation marks. Because for many people walking the Camino for the first time, it is often enough the case that they think they "have" to start at the usual starting points in order to arrive at SdC and get the Compostela, not knowing, that only the...
When I walked the Camino Frances in 2019, I wasn't particularly physically fit either. I therefore walked shorter stages at the beginning, which gradually got longer. I also started in Pamplona instead of SJPdP, because I wasn't sure whether I'd make the climb up the Pyrenees. Twice, when my...
Out of interest, because this question comes up here from time to time: I am German, but I also lived in the States (in the 1980s). Is there really a big difference in the way this topic is dealt with? I don't remember feeling that it was handled very differently that time. But well, my stay in...
First time I ever thought about walking the Camino was in 20177, when I met Edith in hospital. We shared a room, we both had leg fractures. We only shared the room for about three or four days. She'd been back from the CF some months ago. I've heard about it before of course, but was never...
Great news!
Would it be possible for you, to give us a short reminder on this thread, as soon as you have the maps back in stock? I'd love to buy one, but tend to forget infos like that, when I'm not actively planning a camino like right now.
Hi,
there is a small post office at the airport, I've been there in 2019. Check here.
It seems to be open every day, though there are no opening hours listed. But there is a phone number, so you could call them.
Thanks a lot for your comments and information.
Does anyone here know by chance whether they offer their services also during the winter season? Or do they only offer their service during the peak periods, i.e. from March to October?
I looked on their website, but didn't find any information...
In response to your comment, I read Tincatinker's post again more closely and yes, now I've noticed the irony too.
But when I first read it, that wasn't the case. English is not my mother tongue.
And that's also the case with some more members here, so this might be one reason why such...
There are many travel guides in German that not only list the relevant stages, but also pilgrim accommodation, including many private ones, which are often cheaper than guesthouses or hotels.
The best-known publisher is probably Conrad Stein, which describes many routes and updates them...
Hi,
I'm also from Germany and wanted to walk the Jakobsweg, since I don't have far to walk to the next entry point.
I tried it, but realised that this way of walking the Jakobsweg is not mine. I want to walk more than just a few days at a time. This way it felt more like a multi-day hike to...
@CTLawGal
Thanks a lot for this detailed post, which I find very helpful. Especially for others who would like to walk the Camino, but feel overwhelmed by the complexity of planning to walk the path without support.
This makes it hopefully easier for those, who'd like to walk, but don't dare...
When we lived in N.Y., I loved watching chipmunks in our garden.
But in Europe chipmunks are listed on the European Union's list of 100 most-invasive species. It may have an impact on the red squirrel through competition, so chipmunks are not really welcome throughout Europe.
I too lost the arrows in SdC .
I wasn't as smart as @DoughnutANZ though, to follow others with a backpack 🙃, but eventually I found my way back. I too definitly wanted to walk to the cathedral via the little tunnel with the piper playing.
Though in my case it was also not a piper...
