Thank you all for the help and advice. Unfortunately it looks like my Salvador will be delayed or cancelled. Currently holed up in a hotel in Leon with fever, tonsillitis and no voice. We‘ll see what happens over the next few days or if we just fly home.
(Soon-) Live from the Camino del Salvador - starting end of April 24.
We are currently on the Camino de Invierno around 43km before reaching Santiago - from there we will catch a bus to Leon to start the Camino del Salvador on Thursday. Luckily we have a very generous schedule with a planned...
Have a look at this picture here from the Diamondi church. It’s a Virgen standing on top of a snake. The hospitaliera explained that this is a very uncommon depiction of a Virgin but things that it pertains to Mary being all innocent and therefore above the temptation of Eve. My religious...
Day 10: Vilaseco - Rodeiro
Today was a hard day. While the hike up to Mount Faro is absolutely doable (and well worth it), the rest of the way to Rodeiro is long. We hit over 30c by lunchtime and there’s not much shade to be had. My suggestion is an early start out of Vilaseco to allow you...
Day 9: Diamondi - Pansanillas (Hotel Vilaseco)
Great nights rest at Diamondi. The albergue has a fantastic layout so all of us had their own areas for themselves. The radiators kept the cold out pretty well too. Still, I’d bring an actual sleeping bag if you are staying here very late / early...
Invierno experts - can anyone suggest a restaurant / bar in Lalin for some tasty Spanish food? Preferably casual and not too expensive. The people we’ve been walking with for the last couple of days are breaking up tomorrow and we would love a nice farewell dinner 🥘🫒🦪
How much asphalt walking can you expect on the Primitivo? I’m wearing hiking shoes because I wanted some extra grip for the Salvadore but my feet are killing me here on the Invierno with all the road walking. If the Primitivo is similar I might try to pick up some Brooks trail runners in Oviedo.
@Thomas1 hope you had a good night in Escamplero. What time does the albergue open (or the restaurant next to it) and do you know if there’s Wifi available?
Day 8: Monforte - Diamondi
The only downside of staying at the fantastic Lemavo Albergue is the long slog through Monforte in the morning. We had another early start because - you guessed it - Max had another meeting coming up. The first part goes along the main road again, there’s an...
