    Which VF? And accomodation questions

Sorry, I forgot: The Via is very well waymarked and there are GPS tracks available. There weren't many pilgrims, we met 10 in 34 walking days and were told about 4 others. Last autum we walked from Besancon to Piacenza, we met 5 Pilgrims in 29 days.

    Which VF? And accomodation questions

I walked the Via in March/April together with my partner. We always phoned a day in advance. This is only necessary if you want to sleep in parish accomodation or convents. There are a lot of hotels and B&Bs between Lucca and Rome and quite a lot of them can be booked through booking.com. I...

Taxi from Finisterre to Santiago after sunset?

I asked a middle-aged spanish couple who looked trustworthy to give me a lift back to town. It felt quite weird to be in a car after nearly 1500 km.

    Getting to Le Puy

You could easily walk it in three days, but don't miss out on the local train, I've taken in in both directions, it's quite gorgeous.

    Choices from Amsterdam

30 days from Dinant to Vézélay gives you plenty of time. In 2006 I walked it in 23 days (sometimes accomodation was quite hard to find, so some days were longer than I would have liked them to be :( ). Plan for days of rest in Reims and Auxerre, they are both beautiful towns and I still...

    Getting to Le Puy

I can only answer the French part of your question: From the Gare de Lyon you take a TGV to St. Etienne and from there a local train to Le Puy. The local train is on a very scenic route - they should charge you extra for the view :D

Injuries upon return from the camino

My partner ended the camino with a severe tendinitis, but that was after 2700 kilometers from home to Finisterre. She discovered that she needed orthopedic inlays to prevent tendinitis in the future and has since not had any problems on long distance walks.

Munich to Lake Constance Jakobsweg and Via Jacobi to Geneva

We're not that complicated here in Germany. You don't need the credencial from Munich, any crecencial issued by an official confraternity anywhere is good enough. I've walked some German paths with a credencial issued in St. Jean-Pieds-de-Port which I didn't need after all and if I was asked at...

Crowded Camino in the Holy Year?

It is possible to learn some simple phrases in a couple of weeks, the problem is understanding the native speaker at the telephone. :? I speak French quite well, but making phone calls can still be quite difficult if the connection is bad.

    21 Days to complete??

The camino in 21 days would mean an average of about 40 km a day. Judge yourself if you are fit enough to walk that on average no matter what the weather or terrain. I would advise you to do it either in two years or start in Burgos or even Leon.

Hiking the Ways of St. James in North Rhine-Westphalia

Accomodation types vary a lot. Sometimes there are cheap alternatives designed for pilgrims, but often it's B&B, guesthouses and hotels. The two paths along the Rhine are gorgeous for cycling, some others are quite hilly. The official guides always list biking alternatives to the footpaths.

Hiking the Ways of St. James in North Rhine-Westphalia

I live in North-Rhine Westphalia (NRW for short) and have walked most of the Ways of St. James there. Two of them on my caminos to Santiago and the others in stages as "little escapes" over long weekends. The new one opening this year will practically pass my doorstep and I am looking forward to...
