  • 2nd part of posting..So this leaves me with the VdlP or the Frances again. As of this moment it's looking like Seville start with VdlP. This will probably change by this evening. I should add that I fly into Gatwick because the tickets were so cheap. Reasonable flights are available throughout Spain. Are you set on the Portuguese route or were considering another route?

I'm set on the Portuguese. I've booked my first night in Lisbon, and will begin walking on May 4. I also think it's more expensive than the CF but it's also shorter, and I spent lots less on my flight this time, so I think it'll be a wash for me. Mybiggest unsolved challenge is getting back to Lisbon for my flight home on June 6. Not unsolvable, but still undone!
Hi Suzanne. I am from West Marin county in a small town called Inverness. I still haven't decided where to walk? It's driving me insane. I woke up thinking I would walk the Portuguese, but after looking over various Albergue listings I saw this would be a very expensive choice. I knew the C Frances was more affordable, but with this recent discovery has made me cross the Portuguese route off of my list.
Hi Suzanne, I feel pretty lucky to have walked the CF last year mid march to early June. I am going back as well. I, too, was considering the Camino Portuguese. I fly out of San Francisco March 14. Too bad our times aren't more aligned as I would've liked to start walking with someone. I wish you a Buen Camino and perhaps our paths will cross. Blessings jennifer.

Hi Jennifer! Where in northern California are you? I'm in the Sacramento area. Are you doing the CF again? Or the Portuguese? And Buen Camino to you as well! Suzanne

Forestgirl, I had the opportunity to do the Portuguese this past March. Started from Porto (time limitations) to Santiago walked the coast to Vila do Condo then to central route the rest of the way. Even with rain everyday sometimes sleet I loved it. I met so many nice people along the way. There are muni’s six euros and plenty of others usually 12 euros very nice. If I can help let me know. Buen Camino, Joe

Two places I highly recommend Lugar da Corgo and the Monastery at Hebron. But the others are also good. Muni’s in Ponte de Lima, Porrino, Valencia were good. Two others the Nest in Rubiaes (Marlene owner) and Catro Canos in Caldas de Reis. Jeez they were all good. Sorry for the ramble but it was great can’t wait to go back.
