Preparation to avoid some feet problems

I knew such a reply would come at once. It´s like a Table Tennis match. But what shall the other 99% or 95% do? Blisters and feet problems are a very common problem. I have helped many pilgrims with feetproblems during my Caminos. Weak shoes or too stiff boots/shoes, not walking enough before...

Preparation to avoid some feet problems

This is one of the best recommendations I have ever seen on Youtube regarding walking 800 km. I have seen too many pilgrims walk into stores in Spain and buy new boots since their light trekking shoes had broke down. Then they had to continue in new boots and all kind of problems with your feet...

Winter - How to get to St Jean?

Sorry, but I must ask: Are you serious? Do you know what it takes to walk in the winter in the mountains from SJPP when you are reaching the altitude of 1.500 meters? I think that they would not let you go from SJPP. Are you experienced walkers and comfortable with the extreme weather that could...

    Sleeping bags-necessary?

You are absolutely right. Take a sleeping bag. I have had a thin sleeping bag and then a very thin bag and walked with just silk liner and this time I have a thicker sleeping bag. Don´t rely on blankets. Sometimes they don´t have and some of them are in a terrible shape.

    Blankets and Bedbugs

You did a very good choice when you bought Atmos 50L. Congratulations. You will enjoy it for many years to come. It´s much easier to have a larger backpack. There are more pockets so you can reach your gear from "outside" and the comfort is much better. I have my poncho in a pocket så I can grab...

    Blankets and Bedbugs

Hi Cooperplus! Sorry for my late reply but I´m in a period of lot of working. I have changed my backpack from 35 l to Osprey Kestrel 58. I found out that the bigger backpacks have better harness´s and hipbelts and over all are more stabile. You can also pack your gear tight to your back which...

    Blankets and Bedbugs

Hello Ray! I have walked with a thin sleeping bag two times and one time without sleeping bag, just using silk sheets. At that time I arriwed at a Albergue and when it was my turn they had no more blankets to give me. The night temperature was very low that night and I had to dress up before I...

Trouble Purchasing Bus Ticket from Pamplona to St. Jean.

Buy the ticket when you arrive in Pamplona. Cash is the easiest. Below you have the information you need. Perhaps you already know this. You can also travel with bus to Roncevalles ( it´s in the same country) and then take a taxi to SJPP, it´s just 25 km. I think you will arrive in SJPP much...

    First Camino in September....

Well, it will be the 4th time this year when we start in the end of August. Once you have walked the CF it´s very hard not do it again. The CF is full of ancent history and you meet so many nice people, so many stories you will hear. The Spanish people are nice and helpful. Since the CF is 800...

    First Camino in September....

What a great trip! Paris, one of my favorite cities. The other is Rome. I think the problem is storing the bag. If you follow an ordinary guidebook it will take you at least 33 days to complete the CF. Someone must look after it for that time. Why not send a mail to the Tourist Office in...

    First Camino in September....

Hello Nan! The easiest way is to leave the poles at home if you have trouble with the size. If you need poles buy them in Spain. Gear that you don´t need for the walk is a problem. If you don´t need them for your return you can send them home from a Post-Office. But it is very expensive. It´s...
