Finished the Porto to SDC route

I have fond memories of Rubias (after a very difficult day of walking). We had a wonderful couple from Denmark serenade us Peregrinos to guitar music and singing in the courtyard. I was sipping Vino Tinto and munching on fresh bread and cheese while enjoying music from Bob Dylan, John Denver...

What to Expect on the Camino (for prospective pilgrims)

I walked the Camino Portuguese in September of 2014 and the feelings you described are still so close to the surface - the exhilaration of the cool dawn before the heat of the day, walking with new friends (I showed up alone with my pack and met a new family), the frustration, pain of every body...

    Post Office Hours in Porto

Hello: I land in Porto at 4:00 pm Saturday afternoon on August 30th. My concern is that I have a small suitcase to ship to Ivar and there will be no postal service available on Saturday or Sunday. Can anyone share what days and hours the postal service is open in Porto? Is there a post office...

    It's calling

Thanks for the idea. I have been reading about the fees if your carry on does not meet specific measurements and weights. It is 35EU one way for that error. I will keep searching for rates... 40 EU is cheap. Tonight the cheapest I saw was 89EU Santiago to Barcelona.

I am planning to start my Trek that time period and stay at the Airporto Hostel the day I arrive in Portugal. We may cross paths!

    Torres del Oeste from Padron

I have been reading about the path that St. James' body was taken after his death and it talks about traveling through the Towers of the West up to the city of Padron. Does anyone know the distance from Padron to the Towers? Is it walkable? If not, is there a bus/public transportation that...

What we want to leave behind...

I am going to leave behind self doubt... even as I type this there is a little nagging voice, "will I really g0?" Will I get the time off work I need; will I really get on a plane to fly for 12 hours (I despise flying); will I be able to let it all go and enjoy the journey versus driving my way...

What are the names of the Portuguese Routes?

Thanks Anna! I try to express why I am going to walk Sept. 2014 and my family looks at me oddly (and I think secretly believes I won't go through with it). I feel called... my heart is aching to go. This forum keeps me taking the next steps to make the walk from Porto to Santiago a reality!

Hello: Sue here from Minnesota (in central USA). I am planning to walk Camino Portugues September of 2014 (flying to Porto, Portugal 8/31/2014). Looks like most of my Camino classmates are starting in France. Anyone walking from Porto? Wow, I thought I was ahead of the game joining this...
