    I've never sent bags ahead but I might need to in the future. At home I use a Deuter waist pack that I also use on the Camino. I can't see needing a full day pack with most stretches having lots of amenities.

    Debated about getting a SIM card but I don't speak enough Spanish that I would be making any phone calls. So much free WIFI that I never really regretted not getting the SIM card after five weeks in Spain. And of course not being totally independent helps to interact more with others.

    Interesting. In Canada they have never given any credit for renewing early. And we've always been warned that countries could deny us entry if our passport expires within six months of travel.

    While Roncesvalles is a nice stop, Burguete isn't much further down the road and in the morning you avoid the huge rush of Pilgrims first thing out the door. If you're interested in Ernest Hemingway you can even check out the hotel he used to visit.
