Of course, it depends on where you're spending the night, but I've never found it difficult to get my early morning cup(s) of coffee. That said, I do carry a few "coffee bags" and a plug in cup size water heater.
Perhaps I was lucky, but when I walked the Camino francés, I found October to be ideal - not too hot and not too cold. That said, the current unusual climate conditions need to be considered.
I always check my backpack when flying. I have a special bag that I bought at a sporting goods store which in lightweight nylon with a zipper and handles that my large backpack fits in.
I agree, take a day off when you need it, or as in my case, whenever there is something worth seeing that is off the Camino. Santiago will still be there whenever you reach the end of the Camino!
For me, that section of the Camino was the most impressive. When I did it I was 70 years old and not in amazing physical shape; nonetheless, I'm very, very glad I did it. I prepared by doing daily long walks which included some hills. My advice, go for it!
When I'm on the comino I too prefer to walk alone. I find it gives me not only the freedom to travel at my own speed, but it allows me to appreciate what I'm seeing, hearing, and feeling. I agree - it is "self-care" and not selfishness.
I remember the descent from Zubiri. It was a real challenge on a wet day. I'm heading back to Pamplona in a few days to continue where I left off. I'm planning to go as far as Burgos this time. I've downloaded the app to my phone. Thanks for the info.
I carry a Waka-Waka - https://waka-waka.com/en/ - small, can be clipped to backpack and is also a flashlight. I use it to charge my phone and small tablet when I'm hiking along El Camino.

I have a similar plan for this coming October. There is a lot to see along "The Way". This time I'm starting in Pamplona and probably going as far as Burgos. For me, it is about the journey and all you learn along the way.
