Hi Brenda,
I'm your same weight and height, and my advice is to check out the backpacks for kids. On two Camions, I've used the Deuter Fox 40 Pack - Kids, which was marketed for boys. Often the kid sizes fit petite frames better, and they sometimes cost less too! 40 L was more than enough...
I was flashed a few weeks ago on the Norte after Santander and before Santa Cruz de Bezana, but maybe I should put that in a different thread. He has apparently done that to 6-7 young peregrinas this summer, never to peregrinos. We did contact the police, and they did come. I don't know if he's...
I just finished the Norte and did the Frances 2 yrs. ago. After this last Camino and having to walk on highways a lot more this time, I finally figured out, in part, why my dislike of cyclists on the Camino is so strong by comparing them with the motorists.
The cars tended to move over a safe...
One of my favorite aspects of my first camino on the CF was the albergues with communal meals. Right before I left for my camino, someone had published a guide to all the albergues that offered them here on the Forum, and I used that guide in part to structure my camino around those places...
On my Camino I used this kind with the serrated edge on one side from REI. It works great and didn't break. It's a thicker plastic than some of the others.
As many have already said, Barbara and Istvan were lovely and gracious hosts. They really were a blessing at the start of my pilgrimage. I pray that their family health concerns improve and wish them all the best.
Yes, I was surprised not to see San Anton on the above list. It's on the original 2015 list, so maybe it's worth going back to that thread to make sure that you get all of them.
Rensaw, I hope you had a great time serving at San Anton. I was a hospitalera there in 2015 and loved the place...
Hi Bruce,
I'm an Associate Professor at a college in the States with a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies. I also teach courses on cross-cultural studies. Happy to help, if I can.
Can you also add to the list La Perla Negra in Azqueta, which is right before Villamayor de Monjardin in Stage 6. It was a great place--ecclectic feel with instruments and art available for play. The dinner was a culinary delight, and breakfast is also available. The place is small with 2-3 beds...
Thanks to everyone who contributed to this list. I started my Camino 3 days ago and am trying to organize it around these suggestions. Corazon Pura in Biskarret was amazing--18 euros for room, hot bath, home cooked meal with wine and breakfast in a wonderful home. I couldn't believe there were...
Hi Suzanne, I have T-Mobile and will be doing the Camino this summer. Your post was very helpful. Just to confirm though: Could your husband or anyone else for that matter simply call your normal US number with country code and reach you in Spain if you weren't using Skype or Face time? Did...
