I have walked to Santiago 4 times in the last 2 years and as long as I’ve been in line by 10 am I have not had an issue getting in and getting a front pew. As a bonus I have see the Botafumeiro swing twice.
Hello,
Your feelings are so familiar to me as I have anxiety leading up to each of the 4 Caminos that I’ve done. Anxiety comeS from the future as it is the unknown and you may well know this. The Camino taught me to better stay in the present and that is how I deal with leaving for a Camino...
I love reading this because your Camino was so similar to mine. I also walked the CF this fall, been home for 3 weeks, and reading your account reminds me of all the special people that I met. I can’t imagine having to deal with the emotional/physical highs and lows without the benefit of this...
I started in SJPdP and will be arriving soon in Santiago. I just passed through Sarria and did not get a stamp until I got to Barbadelo for the night. s long as I get 2 stamps from here am I ok to get compostella?
Gracias
I also use WhatsApp but when landing in Madrid I just stop in to the phone store at the airport and get a sim which they set up for me, simple and inexpensive. I’ve used esim in the past and simply prefer a physical sim. Either way enjoy your Camino!!
I walked the Primitivo late Sept 2021 and it was my first Camino. I was 66 at the time and in reasonable shape. It is difficult at times but certainly vey doable for most people I think. Like others have said, start out easy and just take it as it comes, you will be fine. Buen Camino
Finally, I arrived in Pamplona this evening and will get the bus tomorrow to SJPdP. I’ll start walking on Thursday and hope to possibly meet with some of you that are starting at the same time. Buen Camino!
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I do have euros from last year and I’ll take some USD to convert if needed and I will go to the ATM at Madrid airport when I land. Buen Camino!
I agree and so do I but this seems to be something that has just happened and is being discussed by current travelers on FB American pilgrims on the Camino.
