    Which Osprey backpack?

Tom, thanks for the heads up on the Zpack. I was looking at small courier bags that I could modify to clip to the front of my pack. You have provided me with information I can use. Thanks ;)

    On the road (again)...

Welcome home Heather. Well Done. And yes the Parisians have a knack for looking well groomed all the time. No Walmart casual for them.:)

    Which Osprey backpack?

REI has sand bags. Have them put 20 pounds or so in the pack and have them help you adjust the pack for your frame then spend lots of time in the store walking around looking at all the stuff you crave but don't need and will never buy.

    Which Osprey backpack?

Mark, I'm 5'10" and shrinking. :) The large Osprey Talon was way to big for me and I went with the Med/Sm for that perfect fit. ;) I think you will find the large a good fit for your 6'2" frame. Remember, lighter packs have fewer adjustment points.:(

    For us sloooow walkers only!

I've been to the middle of nowhere on several occasions it's one of my favorite destinations. In fact I know of and use many short cuts to get there. My wife often thinks I'm lost when I take these short cuts but I've never been lost in my life. Confused, maybe, but never lost. :)

    Which Osprey backpack?

When the experts recommend no more than 10% of your body weight in gear for the Camino, that weight has to include your pack. To get a light as possible pack, there will be and are trade offs like lighter materials for shoulder straps an waist belts and fewer compartments to separate your gear...

    On the road (again)...

Congrats Heather on completing your Camino. Long or short, finishing your Camino is a major accomplishment. Happy to hear your friends father is OK. Glad to hear your OK. There is a restaurant across the street from the Finisterrre bus station, it has a big outdoor seating area overlooking...

    On the road (again)...

You go girl! Got the book. Read it over and over. Glean something every time I review it. Congats on completing your Camino. Due to time constrains I took the bus to Finisterre but walked out to the End of the World. Your posts have been full of insight and useful information. Thanks a...

    On the road (again)...

Remember Heather, it's not normal to serve on a ship that they sink on purpose! Submariners  are not normal! so the stories they told are probably true. As for me, I was a fleet sailor and served on greyhounds. One of our jobs was to look for and sink Subs. How did you get a...

    Food on Camino Portugues

My favorite food in all of Europe was, by far, the bread! :) Our bread here is made to last for weeks. We have nothing like Europe. :( Give me a piece of bread with some ham and or cheese and I'm a happy camper.

Sorry about the foot.:( I'm a retired Navy Corpsman and nurse. Not sure what you have. Could be a callus acting up too. Rest is always a good idea. Use caution though if it is an infection. A mild cellulitis can become a life threatening emergency real fast. If you can, get someone with a...

    Advice about Communications

Very comfortable but wore out before my Camino with less than 250 miles of walking. fortunately REI took them back and I got Vasgue boots instead. Comfortable and bomb proof. Buen Camino

    On the road (again)...

Heather, it's the Camino! We all smell like Eau de Horse and sometimes Eau de the other end ;) and no one cares.. The cleanliness of ones washed clothing is, I guess, a state of mind. To my mind, if I washed them or went swimming with them on, they are clean.:D
