San Sebastian to Bilbao, or Reverse?

My wife and I have walked the Camino de Francis all the way to Finnisterre. We're looking at doing a shorter walk from San Sebastian to Bilbao. Or should we walk from Bilbao to San Sebastian? Would appreciate your views.

    Help with blisters!

Simple solution - buy and wear ArmaSkin socks. My wife and I used them from St JDP to Finisterre and not one blister. They are latex socks you wear under your normal socks. Totally guarantee you will not get blisters. Buy them online.

Extra day if you're not a city person

My wife and I had only been walking 2 hours when we came across Estella. A fellow pilgrim told us it had a great chocolate shop. So that was it - we went into the village and decided to book a room for the night and have the rest of the day off. A market was in full swing in the village square...

Advice: should we attempt SJPP to Roncesvalles?

The only advice I would give is to wear Arma Skin socks - these are latex type under socks that go on before your normal socks. My wife and I did the Frances Camino from SJDP to Finisterre without a blister - they are anti blister socks, comfortable and highly recommended to save the wear and...

Blisters - The inside scoop. (Video)

My wife and I used them on our Camino last year - 915 kms StJPDP, Santiago, Muxia, Finisterre. Zero blisters - passed plenty...

Map or Book of Santiago to Finisterre

Brierley has the guide "Sarria-Santiago-Finisterre" which I used last year. Suggest you go the anti-clockwise route Santiago - Muxia - Finisterre (Finisterre=finish) where the 0.00km marker is. It's great!

20th July - 12th August and paralysed by indecision

Do the Frances - you could comfortably do 300 kms so look at the map and that will be your starting point - Leon would be a good starting point. If you want company then Frances is the one to do. If you've had a rough year then TLC is what is wanted! Enjoy!

Numbers leaving from SJPP in August

Wonderful, thankyou! We're looking to go from Lisbon and were thinking of also doing the inland route that you did. My wife and I are lousy on languages so any problem with English? Also good to hear the alternative accommodation to the alberques is excellent. Another question - did you use a...

Numbers leaving from SJPP in August

Anamya, can I ask which route you took on the Portuguese camino? I have also done the Frances and would be interested in your comments on the differences (topography, road/track surfaces, accommodation etc) Thankyou
