Interesting thread. I am almost finished with my Camino story. I love to tell stores and have a big benefit of building a website for an editor and publisher. Thus it will hopefully be that much better presented.
The why is a bit like the walk. It certainly isn't for the money or to just talk...
It worked out great. I went down to the ocean side and followed it to the river and then followed the river to Lires and back to the path to Muxia.
It was longer and harder, but I had the whole coastline to myself. My footprints were the only ones in the sand.
Thanks
I MADE IT!
I called home to let them know how our went abs that I would see them soon. They said no, I had somehow gained a couple extra days.
I walked with no schedule and must have done well.
Arrival in Santiago was head banging loud celebration of something. I promise a longer report...
An important detail here is that your phone must be unlocked -AND- a world phone.
My Samsung Galaxy phone was unlocked last year. Bought a sim card at the airport only to find out 45 minutes later it would not work. Barely made it to the train and bought a cheap phone in Pamplona. Luckily, it...
The question may be more; would you want to? I bet even more would answer yes. To some like me, it would be a luxury, but not practical.
Owning a small business in the USA (website builder) means people are depending upon me and I need be fair to them. The good news is I now have a full time...
I had someone pretty special that was considering walking the last 100 with me, but the cancer did not allow it. We would have been slow. We would have had to ship the bags forward. But I would have treasured ever so much that walk with that special person then the SJPP by myself.
If someone...
I fly out on a Tuesday. Not sure if I should be 90 minutes early.
I have collapsable carbon poles with screw in rubber tips I would like to try carrying on, but have a backup bag if I need to check and would need time for that. Last year things went smooth, but always trying to prepare.
You have all day to walk as well. The challenge in training is that it is often a marathon of 5+ miles after a day of work.
Here you can get up, walk a while, get something to eat, walk a while visit with people, walk a while and so on.
My training is mostly 5 miles a day and longer on...
I realized that I never followed up with the rest of the story…
Air flight went great. They actually served real food and you got to eat it with real silverware.
Arrived in Madrid. I carried my bag on and could skip checked luggage.
Bought a sim card for phone. Found out that even if your...
It has been a while and thought I ought to do an update.
Less than two months to go before returning to the Camino. I have tried to be more balanced on training this time.
It has been 9 months since knee surgery. I can handle 5 miles a day and an occasional 10 miles with no pain and will be...
I manage to get an airline ticket into Madrid and return tick from Santiago for the same price as a round trip through Madrid. Now That I leave in less than two months a couple things occurred to me.
My flight out of Santiago is 6:45 am. My questions are:
• How early to get to the airport.
•...
That explains a lot. Thanks.
The other time I got messed up was on going pass construction on a roundabout and there were arrows painted on the road by road crews earlier that were faded out to a light yellow. I ended up on a path with 2 fellow pilgrims which ran in the right direction, but...
