I think the pilgrim from Argentina that took a cobblestone from Paris to drop at the Cruz de Ferro. I don't know why ... maybe he thought he had a lot of sins?
about the weight you carry - I would suggest to think carefully about what is essential rather than set an arbitrary weigh saving. A third pair of socks, the sleeping bag, or a second water battle can mean the difference between completing the Camino and falling short because of blisters...
I've done three full Caminos and lugged a full frame SLR with 28-300mm lens with me in each one. Security is the main thing. Put it all in a bag and take it into the showers with you. At night, place it at the bottom of your sleeping bag so it cannot be accessed while you sleep

I am starting from Irun on 10 September. I am packing good raingear. :-)
Alex
OK - got my plane tickets. I am starting from Irun on 10 September and following the Norte all the way to Compostella (and Fisterra afterwards).
I am a photographer and speak Spanish fluently. Look forward to catching up!
OK ~ I've done my time in the Australian Army and carried way-too-much weight (and an M60 machine gun of 11Kg). I have walked the Overland Trail with 25Kg of pack .. and done the Camino Frances with 14Kg. It's always been the case that you carry as little as you can to do the job that you...
