Travel from Madrid to Sarria on 5 May

Hi,
We are stuck re getting from Madrid to Sarria (preferably by train) on May 5. We need to get to Sarria that day. Up until April 7, Renfe shows an Alvia 04125 train leaving Madrid-Charmatin at 12.10 and arriving Sarria at 18:35. On dates after that it says there is no train on that route. Got onto another website trenes.com or something similar and it said the same thing. Tried to use the Renfe online assistant but that just refers me back to the page that tells me there is no train.

Does anyone know if this train has been cancelled after early April? Or if I should wait until closer to the time to find it ... how much closer? Or failing trains, what is the simplest way to get from Madrid to Sarria?
Getting a bit worried. All help really appreciated.
Many thanks,
Celia

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

i have a feeling renfe is not selling tix for many of its routes fater the 7th of april at the moment. i have been trying to purchase a leon - madrid for the end of april and same deal. likewise, renfe only sells 60 days in advance on some lines (i am not sure if it's 60 or 70 or...).
easiest way is to get to lugo (lugo is the main transport hub in eastern galicia), and from theer head south to sarria by bus as there is usually buses services are more frequent than train ones.

I wouldn't worry

Right now, on Tuesdays, there are two trains from Madrid to Sarria. The overnight one might be discountinued (there rumours about it on the past) although I don't think it's too likely. The daytime one is almost sure that will run on your travel date (the other one is just almost almost sure :)). After Holy Week, you should be able to book a ticket online (well, in fact, you should be able to make it right now... so stay tunned because at any moment you'll be able to make it but if you don't want to check the RENFE web every day, to wait till after/around Holy Week could be a good idea to have more success options).

Failing trains, bus from Madrid to Lugo (with Alsa) and another one from Lugo to Sarria (with Monbús) could be the easiest way to make the route.

Thanks so much for the replies. Good news. Renfe opened the bookings on our route today and we now have tickets. The British site Loco2 let me know. They are really helpful. Hopefully the Leon to Madrid one is also now available Jeffrey. Guess I've learnt one needs to be patient with Renfe! :)
