LIVE from the Camino Starting out

Yesterday I walked to work as I have been doing for 17 years. When I had finished my final few tasks I shouldered my rucksack and set off for Santiago. I hope to reach London in about a week

I will not clutter this site with endless links but my students nagged me to do a video diary. The promise is to keep each day to around two minutes. If you care to look they are on you tube. Search on Pete Crosby and select the one with the gorilla and the fish.

I am travelling a little more slowly than I had hoped and am still three days north of London but did manage 220ks in the first week. Old mantras from previous experiences on the Camino come back to me. Poco a poco and tranquilo being my favourites

The start of week three; approaching 500ks walked so far. This morning I crossed the M25 and so now south of London; hope to be at the ferry terminal in about 4 days

And so, week four starts for me in Normandy; steady rain now and forecast all day. Makes a change from the heat of England!

Week five finds me only a little south of Paris; the contrast between the English sun of the first 18 days and the rain in France now quite remarkable. I must not exaggerate however, most of yesterday was quite pleasant. Now heading towards Orleans.

I was unable to get onto this site for some time and so stopped posting. The good news is that I completed my 2,000 walk in November 2014. I met several people on the way who had walked the Levante and, once my daughter is safely married, I plan to check out that Camino in late September.

Shows how unobservant I am, I started following your comments @el ciervo amarillo thinking it was this year that you were walking!!! Only cottoned on when I got to your post in July this year!!! Nevertheless, when I have a moment, I'll check out your YouTube links. Two thousand kms is not to be sneezed at! Well done, and buen camino for your next pilgrimage.

Didn't manage to find the time last autumn but all booked up to start the Levante in a couple of weeks. Planning to flood YouTube with short video blogs again as well
