Hi,

I am considering Le Puy from from Ash Wednesday next year - 2016. Anyone else planning setting off that way at that time? Getting from Leeds to Lyon and then a train. Not sure of the cheapest means of traveling to Le Puy then. BlaBlaCar or Eurolines I am guessing cheapest or flying from Luton ... But I'd have to get down there from Leeds and I don't like Flying because if customs and cheap airlines mantra "sell sell sell".

Are you prepared for snow up high on the Aubrac? People will be skiing!

I agree, the weather might be a bit inclement that time of the year. Buen Camino/Bon Chemin, SY

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Le Puy from from Ash Wednesday next year - 2016.
Since Ash Wednesday falls on 10 February 2016, and starting from Le Puy puts you immediately on the higher elevations of the Aubrac plateau, I would be very hesitant. In addition to the winter weather and snow/wind/ice, there is the issue of finding nightly lodgings. Miam Miam Dodo gives contact info for lodgings (most of which are only open from Easter to All Saints) , and I would have reservations from Le Puy through to Figeac in hand before setting off.
