My Camino in Portugal approaches and I'm beginning to think that the biggest kindness I can do Fernanda is to give her a break by staying somewhere else.
I fear a repeat of the 'Granon Grab' where the place appears to be somewhat regularly overwhelmed by the under-funded in rabid search of the over-generous.
I fear for her disappointment.
Maybe I'll just pop in and say hello.
Regards
Gerard

Hey, Gerard, just call her.
Or maybe consult @Albertinho . He'll know for sure whether you'll be a nuisance (hardly according to your stories ;)) or not...

Anyway, Bom Caminho!

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
Gerard, I think you are just the sort of person who would enjoy joining the singing of several verses of 'Yellow Submarine' led by a Portuguese optician wearing a large Russian hat and banging an African drum. It is a joyful place and you sound like you are a joyful person. Book your bed and Bom Caminho!

That's one of the most funny posts I've read in months ;)
And it is surely spot on although I wasn't at Casa Fernanda YET!!!

Please stay with the equally hospitable (plus quirky and provocative to boot) host at Quinta Estrada Romana. I'd love to read a story after a night spent there. The group we were walking with came away with a secret signal and fabulous memories.
He asks 20E for bed, dinner, breakfast and washing.

If you have not been before i recommend you stay, your generosity should reflect the hospitality you will be shown. Wonderful experience , i hope to return some year

Four of us stayed here in nov of 2015. It was a spectacular experience. I feel she does what she does for the true pleasures of meeting people. You will be disjointed if you miss this stop.
Just my thoughts
Buen Camino

Thanks to all for your comments.
You've convinced me that staying is a good idea.
I guess the limited amount of pilgrims she can accommodate offers some protection.
Now I'm looking forward to it again!
Regards
Gerard

Gerard, perhaps you might comfort yourself with the thought that your generous, or even merely equitable, donativo would help to provide some balance.

;)
I left about 25€ for that reason plus for the ambiance and service. I hope those that can afford to pay do so.

I'm in Mealhada at the moment. Where's this accommodation? Have I passed it already?

You are about a week away . . . it's between Barcelos and Ponte de Lima, on the Central Route. You will miss it if you are on the Coastal Route :p

But it is soooo very true.... they are both gems, but he makes you laugh so hard ... it is such a joyful place, don't miss out.
I know, Ingrid because Dušan (a Slovenian friend living in Madrid) described it in a similar way after his visit last autumn :D
And now I kind of saw the video in my mind again, hahaha. I will surely stop there when (oh, when???) walking the Portugues. Or even walk few kilometers backwards from Ponte de Lima in case walking Camino Torres will come first.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
