I want to arrive in Barcelona on July, the 13th (Friday) in the morning.

Then go by bus from Barcelona-Sants to Huesca and from there zu Jaca.
http://alosa.avanzabus.com/web/rutas__horarios_y_precios.html

Then from Jaca to Somport:
http://www.mavaragon.es/horarios-autobus-jaca-astun/
Then start walking on the next day.

Is a different route better?
Would it be better for some reason to arrive on Monday, the 16th (closed shops / alburgues / festivals / ...)?

I do not know when I arrive exactly in Barcelona, so I want to buy the bus ticket there.
Is it okay to buy the tickets there in the bus station or on the bus?
Or is it probable that everything is booked out if I do not buy the ticket before?

Download the ALSA app it will let you book tickets. Popular routes will fill up.

It depends on when you are traveling. When I wanted to return to Madrid last August all of the trains and many of the buses were full days before I needed to travel.

I installed the ALSA app now.

I cannot find a route from Barcelona to Huesca or Jaca in the ALSA app.
On the website I cannot choose Jaca as a destination. I can choose Huesca, but it gives an error message as a result (but a different destination like Huescar works).

I do not find an app for

July is in the Spanish summer holidays like August...
Maybe I should write a message in the contact form of their website.

Edit:
I can see the different routes on
https://www.rome2rio.com/de/map/Barcelona/Jaca
I see.... for ALSA I have to change the route to Barcelona - Zaragoza - Jaca.

So I will probably buy the ALSA-Zaragoza-Jaca tickets online.

The bus connection from Huesca to Somport looks dodgy (only twice a week, and you would need to leave Barcelona by 08:00.) There is a train from Huesca to Canfranc daily at 16:52, arriving 19:37 and there will be a connecting bus to Somport which takes less than 15 minutes. If you take the 11:00 bus from Barcelona Sants (railway station) to Huesca you will have plenty of time. How/when are you arriving in Barcelona?

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I can book ALSA bus Barcelona -> Zaragosa online for July. But there is no ALSA-route to Jaca.

The timetable for alosa.avanzabus is here: http://alosa.avanzabus.com/web/rutas__horarios_y_precios.html
But ticket buying is here: https://www.venta.avanzabus.com/compra/busqueda.jsp
It is possible to pay with paypal.
It seems that I can only buy tickets 4 weeks in advance or something like that.
[Edit: I got an email reply from avanzabus that you can buy their tickets 30 days in advance]

RENFE Zaragosa -> Jaca ... tickets available for March and April... not from the beginning of May.

So I will wait a few weeks...

I caught a bus to Jaca from Zaragosa in late September 2015. The bus left from the train ststion at 1100 and I bought my ticket at the station after arriving on a train from Madrid. My notes say it took about 2.5 hours to get to Jaca. I later caught the bus up to Somport leaving around 1445??? (maybe it was 1545) and arriving at Somport around 1630. I then walked down to Canfranc Estation arriving about 1830.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
In early May 2013, we took the train from Barcelona to Zaragoza and similar to Wayan went upstairs to catch bus to Jaca then bus to Somport, arriving around 3pm. we then walked down to Canfranc Estacion to sleep.
I remember walking through a snow bank out of Somport. Very cold that night and next morning.

It is much cheaper to book ahead. If you are over 60 you can purchase a ticket dorado, for the train. Great discounts. One month is 50cents, longe 6€

I got a WhatsApp a little bit ago and also saw here on the forum that @Vacajoe posted that the pilgrim albergue in Canfranc Pueblo will be opening April 16.
