Confraternity of Pilgrims to Rome (CPR)

The CPR was formed in late 2006 and its founding meeting was held on the 18th November. The original Chairman was William Marques and the current one is Brian Mooney.

The objective of the confraternity is to aid those making a pilgrimage to Rome by foot, bicycle or horse with practical help and information.

What routes do we cover? The Via Francigena and all traditional pilgrimage routes to Rome. Our primary efforts are to re-establish the
Via Francigena as a popular pilgrimage route.

Is the CPR a secular organisation? The group is non-denominational in that it will not be tied to any one church however the title pilgrim is in our objectives to distinguish ourselves from a hiking group.

Is the CPR a British organisation? The members present at meetings and any physical facilities are likely to be from Britain but the purpose of the organisation would be to help all English speaking people.

Way-marking – We limit our way-marking to England and work with Canterbury City Council and Kent County Council to mark routes for walkers and cyclists from Canterbury to Dover.
