Guide to Mary Michael Pilgrim's Way Cycle Route - Complete!!! 2020-10-04

No permission to download
This route is a cycle-friendly version of the Mary Michael Pilgrimage Way. It starts at Carn les Boel below Land's End in Cornwall UK and visits hundreds of ancient sites - churches, holy wells, stone circles and Cathedrals: - including St Michael's Mount, the Hurlers, Brentor, Glastonbury Tor, many Beacon Hills, Avebury, the Ogbournes, Royston Cave, the Gogmagog Hills, Bury-St-Edmunds, Thornham Parva and the ruins of St Margaret's, Hopton-On-Sea...
It is a beautiful and challenging ride on small lanes, ancient trackways - like the Icknield Way and the Ridgeway, some bridleways and cycle paths. It passes through the best that England has to offer - stunning scenery, medieval to mesolithic historic sites, countless quaint churches - and some of the best pubs you are ever likely to find!
This would suit anyone looking for a meaningful long journey - a Camino - without going to Spain in the present circumstances... But it can also be cycled in sections at will - as day rides or weekend pedals.
The sections on the website are from 11 miles to 40 miles - the tougher, steep sections are in Cornwall and Devon (come on if you think you are hard enough!) with it being far more level in the eastern parts and of course in the Somerset Levels!
The descriptions should give enough information on steepness and the conditions of road, lane or track to make your choice of route. On proper off-road sections there is usually a tarmacked alternative...
Lots of info is given throughout on shops/pubs/campsites/accommodation/cycle shops etc.
If anyone on the forum - or their friends/relatives undertake any or all of these stages - please let me know your/their feedback on the route!
It has taken me far more time to write the guide than it did to actually cycle the route! I am not technically 'ept'! - so please forgive the clunkiness of websites set-up... if I find a wordpress genius who can 'magic' it into a better format - I will!!
