Travelling from the UK without flying

There's a direct train back from Santiago to Hendaye, 11 hrs and stops everywhere, inexpensive though! From Hendaye or Irun train to Madrid and on to Portugal. At Hendaye I recommend Askatun.bnb@gmail.com Very comfortable accommodation owned by a pilgrim. Easy walk from the train station.

    Hostel Bayonne

We (Baztan 4) stayed with Veronique in 2018. Interesting experience. We booked ahead and were told there were 4 beds waiting for us.
