    COVID The Lone Pandemic Pilgrim

On May 15th, I had a look at the Plaza de Obradoiro webcam and saw what you see in the attached screen shot. Kind of says it all for the 2020 Camino.... If you are unfamiliar with the Camino webcams provided by Galician regional TV, here is a link...

    Trying to understand

An opportune moment to recall Eugenio Garibay Baños' great poem about the Camino: https://compassandquill.com/2014/02/06/pilgrim-who-is-calling-you/ I recently read Antxon González Gabarrain's Camino memoir and he considers that, for him, the "why" of doing the Camino might be found in that...

Tineo - Albergue Palacio de Merás?

I am not picky about albergues. However, I read a couple of comments about the albergue beds in the Palacio being located in a basement without air circulation. One pilgrim described it as "asphyxiating." For me, that could be a deal breaker. Could anyone weigh in on the veracity of that claim...

I got a direct flight from Madrid to Oviedo, on Iberian airlines, for $55 via Expedia. Better than train ticket price, in some cases. Good luck!

    Rush hour

Stick with your plan of beginning in O Cebreiro. The route is far more appealing than the Portugués (assuming you would begin in Tuy). The stages from Tuy to Santiago involve a lot of walking on pavement and on the shoulders of fairly trafficky roads. And neither the scenery nor the albergues...

Villafranca del Bierzo - Wine tasting?

Could anybody recommend a guided wine-tasting experience in Villafranca del Bierzo? It would have to be in the town itself and not insanely expensive. It would be for a group of 10-12 people. Thanks!

ATM Machines Between Burgos and León

Thanks! This is a huge help. In the past I have been through some small towns - such as Molinaseca-without an atm and it made things...challenging.

    Post restante vs Jacotrans

I recently learned that Jacotrans will charge 50 euros for a pilgrim to drop a bag off in León and pick it up in Santiago two weeks later. I'm betting that post restante is a more affordable option (?). Of course, this depends on the weight of the luggage. Any advice for using post restante at...
