    Camino Portugues Aug/Sept 2020 // Corona - should I take tent?

It is a great choice to start your walk in Lisbon. I did this walk in 2016 and loved it. There is so many beautiful cities to see before Porto and the people are so friendly. I do not know the current situation regarding accommodation. Not a lot of albergues but the bombeiros (fire brigade)...

    Reverse route

Last year I tried walking one legs of the Sanabres in reverse. I found it impossible to find the way-markers. I ended up walking down the highway for the entire route.

What do you do when you cannot walk anymore?

Hey, I am 80 and I have no intention of stopping any time soon. I have walked the C to C ,the CF from SJPP, the Portuguese from Lisbon, the Primitivo and the Sanabres last September. I am already planning my next walk. The important thing is to walk within your limitations. I usually restrict...

Starting from Lisbon — good or bad idea?

I walked from Lisbon in 2016. In my opinion there is so much of the real Portugal to be seen before Porto. I have walked from SJPP, the PrimItivo and the Sanabres. They all had their fair share of road walking. The cobblestone did not bother me. I would always advise anyone to commence their...

Are pre-purchased onward flights out of Spain - are they mandatory?

I am an Australian and I have walked four Caminos. From SJPP and Portugal there was no passport control. Twice I flew into Madrid and my passport was stamped without a question. Unless you want to extend your stay for more than three months i cannot see you having any problem.

    Caminho with my dog

The stamp in my credential from 2015 is a bit unclear but the name commences with "Auberge...." It was on the opposite side of the road from the Camino office but a little down the hill.

    Caminho with my dog

The man in the next bed to me in the Albergue in SJPP had a dog. Three days later I met up with him in Pamplona. The dog was leaving paw prints in blood on the footpath. I thought it was very cruel of him to take his dog on such a long trek.

    Salamanca to Santiago, please comment

You can buy food at the supermarket in Ponte Ulla which is about 7kms before Outeiro.

    Salamanca to Santiago, please comment

I have just returned from walking these exact same legs but from Granje de Moreruela. I am almost 80 and did not find the paths too difficult. Between Granje de Moreruela and Tabara there is an alternative route once you cross the river. The river path is very tough for the first few hundred...

    Shortage of beds in August

For those who are looking for a bed in Grado why not walk the additional few klms to Cabrunana. We stayed there in August last year and we had the entire albergue to ourselves.
