Le Puy-en-Velay to Conques - Question about water

We've been pushing 37-40 many days here in Fort Worth. 16 in Sydney, I'll be right there! Wait, passport is no longer any good. D'oh!! I really would like to get to France, start wandering along the chemin.

    Camino del Norte

My wife and I have been watching Efren Gonzalez traverse the Norte as we love the Basque Country. She'd even walk on this path. We too would start in Bayonne and going to Luarca would probably be as far as we could get in one attempt. @NYSE that'd be about the time we could go, fingers...

100 km to Santiago on Portugese route

Bus.gal is a good website (Spanish or Galician languages only) that shows the buses all around Galicia. The are a number of companies not listed on Google or Rome2Rio. Both Tui and Baiona look real easy to get to. The daily mental coin flip between the two is now a fun exercise. ;) I should be...

    Camino Portugues

Tui on the 29th? Valença on the vigésimo nono? If you take a rest day here and there, I'll see you out there. I have an obnoxiously colored backpack and a bald head to boot.

In my long distance running days, 500 miles was my "check engine," feet feeling worse was an immediate replace. I also used to alternate pairs, trying not to use the same pairs twice in a row where possible. For reference, I was doing 60-70 miles per week. Your mileage may vary.

    Can someone please enlighten me?

Wrong. Mustachioed aliens with funky sunglasses have the right of way. :) 🤣 In addition to making up my own signs, I also crack myself up. The water protection seems right.

    Le Puy musings and plannings....

This might help you with the distances, at least in the Lot, along the Cele especially. The maps and what I might term subway maps are incredibly helpful. I'm seriously considering going between Figeac and Cahors myself...

The walk didn't scare me, the traffic on a narrow, hilly road did. This is good information, thanks!

In the planning stages of a quick trip along the Le Puy, starting in Figeac. If I take the train in from Toulouse, most likely (depending on departure) I'll have to hop off at Capdenac-Gare to change trains or find alternate means to Figeac. The village of Capdenac (on the other side of the...

The Best Mapping Resource I've Ever Found

I'll put a vote this way. I found it before I found this post. :( It is now in my saved maps in Google maps.

    Handy map of the Lot

Here is a handy map and guide of the department of the Lot, with some information on places to stay and grab water & the like. It is in French, but then again, so is the nation. ;) I wasn't able to find an English version. My favorite parts are the section maps that show services and distances...

Walking a Camino is a Very Selfish Act - Isn't it?

Life is comprised of many choices. If you're depriving your family, your people of their basic needs you've crossed the line into selfishness. Would you let them go do something like this? If yes, then your still on the good side of the line. One spouse says wear black shoes. One says wear...

    How is CP Compostela calculated

When we cut it close, any number of minor measuring errors can take place bringing down our expected distance. Ground shifts, taking inside corners, string lining areas with lots of turns. Ah, things from my running days. Some people wait for the watch to say a certain distance, others (like...
