Why do my feet hurt? Metatarsal tales

I have very mobile metatarsals and the joints scrunch together (my non-medical description) This is Morton's Neuroma. The nerves are scrunched and become inflamed. You do realize that the padding will break down over the 300+ kms you walk. Buy 'Chiropodist's Felt' and cut it to size and...

    Immersion Spanish Schools in Spain

The only thing you might get left out of are the rave parties, late night antics and bar crawl drinking, but that probably would be a good thing ;-) If you are young at heart and don't mind making mistakes LOL. True: 'don't mind making mistakes' is important in learning any language at any...

Lacing - Try preventing blisters, or the dreaded black toenail, with a “Heel Lock” or “Lace Lock”.

Ian Fiegan's lacing website is a mine of info. Lots of different styles, yes, heel lock is great, lace lock is another name, and if your shoe is still too loose, stick a cut-to-shape piece of felt under the tongue. This stops slipping as do felt heel pads. No felt? (it's available as...

Le Puy-en-Velay to Conques - Question about water

As I read this, I am watching French News on SBS in Australia. It is 36C in Paris, maybe 39C. They have rangers in parks telling people not to light fires. Quelle horreur! 5 hectares was burnt. .....as I freeze in 16C Sydney.

    Immersion Spanish Schools in Spain

They don't speak Spanish in Barcelona. They speak Catalan. leon, Burgos, Castille is where the best Spanish is spoken.

Le Puy-en-Velay to Conques - Question about water

I walked this route in 2018 and had no problems. There are streams. there are farms that sell RAW milk at the door (Yes! so much better for the microbiome). OK, I just realized, as an Australian....I don't think 30C is a heatwave. Just watching French News on SBS and it's warm there at 19C...

Virtual tour in 360° off the flowers in the Keukenhof , Lisse (the Netherlands)

I'm a Australian. Distances are relative. OK, Marc S, 2021, let's make a date to be there, in Steampunk gear, and follow up with the Asylum Steampunk festival, end of August, a short hop across the North Sea in Lincoln UK, followed by a Sept walk on the Stevenson GR? Carole

Virtual tour in 360° off the flowers in the Keukenhof , Lisse (the Netherlands)

What a coincidence! This morning I was looking at some Steampunkers and this was at Magic Fantastik festival at Kurken castle, in Lisse. I had no idea where that was....I google map'd it and found it is just north of Antwerp....They have a big music festival in July, fancy dress of all and any...

Long distance routes with minimal walking on paved roads/paths

NO! It's well signed, off road all the way to Cahors, and few people and those are 99% French, Lots of Auberges, a bit of 'wild camping' goes on. And you can wander on alternative routes, you must see Conques and you must see Pech Merle!

    Le Puy to SJPP

YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST make time to see the prehistoric caves at PECH MERLE. There are more and Conques is unique. I get be in French and since most of the pilgrims are French, mine improved no end. Miam DoDo is the best. and take DP where offered. NEVER ate a bad meal on the route!!!
