    100km...start Ourense or Vigo or..?

I walked Leon to Santiago this year and would like to go back with my husband and just do 100km but NOT from Sarria as it is so busy. I want a really scenic walk that can be done in 15km stages as walking 20+ daily gave me injuries. I’m not athletic so I’m think the northern routes are probably...

"Buff" question for native English speakers

A ‘Buffer’ as that is what is...a buffer (protection) from weather. Or to similar? I’m at home in Australia and ironically was just given a really good one sold at The Big Red Bash concert in the outback. And they call it a buff I believe!

Stages from Leon and luggage question from a first timer

I did end up using the bag service as it meant I could manage 20km or more and keep up with my new friends which was important to me.

Stages from Leon and luggage question from a first timer

So I walked from Leon, made it to SdC but with shin splints and bronchitis! It was the stretch out of Sarria that brought on the shin splints. The foot held up fine! In hindsight I’d recommend starting at Astorga or even Ponferrada to be honest. I’m glad I got a taste of the end of the meseta...

Is being on the Camino a good excuse for missing this one 😂?

Bus from Leon to Virgin del Carmen

I caught a taxi for 12 Euro instead three days ago as it just seemed simpler. I wanted to start my first day on the Camino early so rather than possibly waiting for a bus I got a taxi and was there in maybe 10 min. I then took the southern option and stayed at Tio Pepe Albergue in Villar de...

    Measles booster

I had a blood test done and found I had no immunity so I had the vaccination but it is two shots and I had left it too late to have the second before I left as I’m already in Europe. But Dr said 1 was better than none!

    Rain issues...Goretex Jacket 670 g vs Rain Jacket 340g

I’ve left it too late to buy a poncho here, how easy are they to buy on the actual Camino? Ta!

Staying in SDC extra night or Madrid 2 nights

I had exactly the same question, but as I am travelling alone it sounds like more time in Santiago with fellow pilgrims would be better than time in Madrid alone.

Chaco sandals pros and cons? (plantar fasciitis dramas)

Thanks! Yes I actually have a little rubber ball that I'm taking as I find standing on that to massage my foot really helps. It sounds like the pharmacies have all the relevant things for pilgrim problems :-)

Advice re my packing for June Frances from Leon? Esp. from ladies! ta :-)

Hi all, I'm in the home stretch for packing and v. happy to take advice as this is my first Camino. This is what I have, and I'm aiming for a 5-6kg pack (before water and food and it's only a 32 litre). I'm from Australia and we don't have the range of products I've seen mentioned sometimes...

Chaco sandals pros and cons? (plantar fasciitis dramas)

Leaving in a week (I will be walking from Leon in June after a month of other travel in Europe) and have to make a decision about the 'second' pair of shoes to take. I have pretty bad plantar fasciitis in one foot and it is too late for any miracle cures, I just need to manage it. I switched...

    Futility of Over planning

'If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans'.... Woody Allen. I'm doing my first Camino from Leon in a month's time, and while I have done as much prep as I could, I am travelling for a month beforehand and not in a position to do any long walks, and have an injury, so I'm very...

    The truth about Camino fashion

Good news as I cut my hair off really short last year for a yoga retreat in hot and humid Bali and now it has grown back to about three inches long I thought I might need to buy a comb to take with me when I leave soon....but sounds like I shouldn't bother! 😄👍🏻

I am travelling in Europe before my Camino so I have packed my hiking gear and pack inside my suitcase...I am flying into Madrid and leaving the suitcase at my hotel. The Coffee Question?

As a fellow Australian I clicked on your question immediately as I’m fretting 😂 that I probably won’t be able to get my soy cappuccinos! I’m lactose intolerant so I can’t really have milk as even taking lactose enzyme tablets is too chancy when walking and not being near toilets ...I’m...
