Walk and knit - Camino Frances

Hello - I've travelled all over the world with knitting needles in metal and wood (circular and straight ones) and have never ever had a problem on airports. A few times security staff wanted to check the metal ones. But I prefer wooden needles as they are almost soundless.... I agree with you -...

How Do You End Your Camino

Camino Frances March 2016 - I arrived in Santiago in the middle of the day after nearly four fantastic weeks - had a flight home three days after. But I cancelled that flight and got a new flight for the next morning - as I was longing to see my two youngest children. When I arrived in Santiago...

What's the one thing in your pack, that you absolutely CANNOT do without...and why?

I bring woolen yarn and wooden (soundless) knitting needles... to knit a self designed sweater in lots of shades of nice colors while walking. I knit when I walk, when rather flat and no rain/snow, during breakfast, lunch and in the evenings. So relaxing and nice - (and for those of you who...

    Plans for 2021?

I have been dreaming about walking Camino Frances in March 2021, but my current (and very flexible) plan now is October 2021. In the meantime, I walk every day in the woods - shorter walks in the morning, during lunch and a longer one in the evenings after work. Sometimes with a headlamp. Some...

Spice up ANY PRESENTATION with photos from Camino Frances

Absolutely - will work really well in a first aid presentation for blisters. (But I have seen worse - for example a marathon runner who planned to walk more than 50km+/daily (Camino Frances) in not waterproof runners. Unfortunately, he had to return home after having severe blisters covering...

Spice up ANY PRESENTATION with photos from Camino Frances

And of course - archways and tunnels and everything overgrown could be used for almost everything having to do with change and building on something. And cattle in rainy Galicia could serve as the opposite of 'user involvement'. If they could choose - I think they would prefer not standing in...

Spice up ANY PRESENTATION with photos from Camino Frances

Honestly – all presentations could be somewhat improved through use of some photos from any Camino – my favorite is Camino Frances. I lecture about mental health, addiction and treatment and in addition I like giving the audience a visual experience – or at least let the bored or uninterested...

    April 2021

Would like to start Camino Frances in March 2021 - 5 years since last time (and what an experience it was in march!: Snow, wet snow, lots of snow in places it 'never' use to snow, blizzard, rainrainrain, wind, more rain and a few sunny days. But I felt so good - and warm (even when I was wet...

Walk and knit - Camino Frances

You are so right - what a barrier breaker! I've never had problems with metal needles on plane internationally, but I prefer wood - bamboo or cherry wood or sth like that - as it allows one to knit silently. Good for those around. You could knit during breaks - evenings... Always a little room...

Walk and knit - Camino Frances

@Iriebabel - You knit so well with nice structure and even stitches - and I particularly love the Buddha-scarf - you could easily produce your first sweater. Easily. You could knit anything, honestly. An easy pattern - stripes in colors you like. I seriously recommend knitting with circular...

Walk and knit - Camino Frances

Thank you for asking - Iriebabel. These projects have been "walking" projects that I design myself. All sweaters and mostly given away. The secret to be able to walk and knit or do something else while knitting is to have a plain/simple design that looks a lot more advanced than it is (with only...

Walk and knit - Camino Frances

Wonderful story! Of course - men are clever knitters. Actually - on the island Amantani in the Titicaca lake between Peru and Bolivia - mostly men knit and they are the master knitters - women tend to spin the finest yarn - and weave (and of course a lot more). It is considered the highets...
