...time and can lead to all kinds of foot, knee, hip and back issues.
For reference, I walked in an awesome pair of La Sportive light hikers. I had inserts for plantarfasciitis, which I replaced halfway, as these wear out as well... and from Burgos on, used blue physio tape for even more support.
...just Sarria to Santiago. I’d recommend a more sturdy trail runner, and there are some less than $100 that are pretty decent. You just need something with support because even though it’s only 100km, you really don’t want to mess with your feet and end up with plantarfasciitis or something else.
...colors, Long sleeve and short. I like 165 then layer as needed. I wear one for several days without odor. My favorite Sox are Darn Tough. They’re guaranteed for life! None of these are Camino tested as I’m a newbie hoping to do Samos to SdS 10/24 if plantarfasciitis ever clears up. Buen Camino
A second for Oofoos! Love them. Super comfy & weigh only 8.5 oz.
They saved me after a really bad case of plantarfasciitis. They are my after walking/around-town shoe on the Camino (they look fantastic w/ my toe socks! 🤪) & at home I wear them around the house. Given my foot troubles in...
...There are some places where they can be helpful such as going down the hill before Zubiri or coming down Alto del Perdon or into Molinaseca after Cruz de Fero. On my first Camino I sprained my ankle and then got plantarfasciitis in the other foot so they were very useful as supports for me.
Thank you for this! I love the non jargon approach, scientific research behind the facts (non inflammatory condition, no need to roll underfoot etc) and very good instructions for both excercises as well as what to do and not to do while living with this condition. Most videos just give...
...5’s in Pamplona then walked to Ponferrada then to SDC via the Camino en Invierno …..it’s an unusually mild winter in Ottawa and I’m still wearing my Speedgoats with double layer smart wool socks. I get about 800-1000 km out of them. No more plantarfasciitis since 2018 wearing Hokas. Buen camino!
...that the new upgraded (Moab 3) insole tends to throw off the positioning of my custom orthotics, which led to a flare up of my plantarfasciitis. Now the custom insert lies flat on top of two layers of Airpillow inserts.
It's a constant game of trial and error, but I think this combination...
Oofos recovery sandals will cure your plantarfasciitis. Take a pair and make them your sandal after each day hike. I have done 3 caminos and using them as my recovery sandal afterwards never had a problem. Not for hiking but to wear after.
I don't have a recommendation for sandals, but wanted to let you know that I was able to completely get rid of the plantarfasciitis that I had for 18 years with a PRP (platelet rich plasma) injection. It was completed at a local hospital by a team of radiologists for a nominal fee and the...
Possibly another way to approach it is to find the most comfortable hiking sandals and each morning tape your feet in the plantarfasciitis wrap Podiatrists and PT’s use both as treatment and prevention with athletes. You can learn this wrap to do yourself but it’s even more effective if a...
Whatever you take, try them out before you walk. I found that my feet [and knees - I’ve had toe tendonitis, achilles tendonitis, plantarfasciitis, and knee inflammation at various points] actually got better after physical therapy and ditching the inflexible orthotics and shoes recommended by...
Hello,
Apologies if there are many answers to this specific question previously. I am prone to plantarfasciitis and the podiatrist has recommended shoes with a decent heel toe drop to alleviate pressure on my Achilles and calves etc. my question is for women with similar issues, what...
...with pain from it. The things I learned that helped the most:
Research Shockwave Therapy near you, it was designed specifically for PlantarFasciitis. I pay $28 for each treatment (6 total) and I am finding of all the treatments this one has the most function to repair the problem.
I changed...
I struggled with it for 2-3 years, trying all kinds of things to alleviate the pain and keep me walking. The best shoes and boots (for me) are made by Hoka. They have by far the most cushioning I have found. Also, after the PF stopped me in my tracks on the Camino Norte, my partner began to...
I walked the Camino Frances in 2023 with PlantarFasciitis… and whilst I can’t say it was painless… I did it.
I developed the condition a month before I left. Whilst on the trail I took ibuprofen first thing in the morning then 4 hours later, this usually covered me for my walking time. I also...
