I'm also eligible for Italian citizenship through a grandfather, but the cost has kept me from going forward. Good luck!

CF O'Cebreiro-Triacastela Day 30 (April 17 2010) Had an okay sleep. It looked like rain when we were getting ready to go so we put our ponchos on. Luckily, the weather held and we didn't get rain until we arrived. The walk here was quite beautiful. Mountain views, meadows, and pastures. We were...

We shared our room with a French couple who were our age and we went to sleep and woke up at the same time which was nice for a change. We have been blessed with...

    Recommendations for grippy soles?

We were with friends a couple of weeks ago and they mentioned "approach" shoes used to (you guessed in), as you approach a rock climb. I had never heard of them but they are supposed to be very "grippy". I googled "approach sandals" and came up with this: They look a little thin soled but...

Day 13 Belorado to Ages (March 31 2010): We got up early and started at 0720 our earliest start yet. Too bad we had to walk 2 hours to find an open bar for our first cup of coffee! A comment about the albergue last night; by the time the hospitalero got up and had the coffee going, more than...

Fountainhead Regional Park in Northern Virginia. We did a 7+ mile hike yesterday. This will be our go to hike as we train for our next Camino. Lots of up and down, some rocky parts and plenty of tree roots! It was busy, so we'll be going on a weekday next time...

March 28, 2010: Azofra to Grañon: Another beautiful morning. We stopped at the restaurant Seville, had coffee, and bought a couple of bocadillos for the road. There were a lot of bicyclists there. They seemed to be in a club - all wearing the same logo on their shirts. They loaded all their gear...

(An excerpt from our blog): On March 19, 2010 "We left for SJPP on a train from Bordeaux at 0727, I forgot to validate the ticket and got a lecture from the conductor. We arrived in Bayonne at 0930 and we had a couple hours to kill so we walked around a bit. When we got to SJPP we walked up...

    Clothes lines

I like to refer to that odor as “eau de pilgrim”. Many times the clothesline is not far from a garden or field containing some manure. 😁

What food did you ENJOY on your Camino(s)?

On the camino and at home one of my favorite meals was chorizo, potatoes onion topped with a fried egg and bread of course. I'm lucky to have a husband who loves Spain, loves to cook Spanish food and we love Spanish wine. Tonight he made my favorite Camino meal along with a red wine from Toro.

    After hike shoes/sandals?

Crocs for me - lightweight, wore them into the shower, and even walked in them a few km when my feet needed a break from the boots. I just hooked them onto the outside of my backpack.
