Travel insurance for US travelers over 70

We have also used GeoBlue. We are over 70. GeoBlue is coverage for international travel. Coverage is for medical treatment and emergency evacuation only. The website provides medical contacts in the areas we have traveled (Europe, Middle East, and South America). I have not had to make...

Cellular Signal on the Via de la Plata

Can I expect to obtain a cellular signal on the Via de la Plata between Seville and Caceres? Not just in towns and villages, but along the trail? I'm planning to walk from Seville to Caceres in March 2020. I'm 72 and will be walking solo. Emergency communications are part of my planning.

Madrid to Burgos by bus or by train?

I agree with the above response. If you are a woman arriving that late, I recommend staying at a hotel near the airport. I have used Ibis and TRYP. Both have shuttles. When my daughter arrived solo late at night, I had her take a taxi to the hotel. Even, if you are male travelling solo...

Madrid to Burgos by bus or by train?

As noted in earlier messages, the bus works well. It leaves from T4 terminal and goes straight to Burgos (I did this twice and once it made a stop along the way). The arrival in Burgos is only a few blocks from the Cathedral and the Camino. The carrier is Alsa. I bought my ticket online...

    1. I completed the Camino Frances in two stages in September 2015 (SJDPP to Burgos) and April 2016 (Burgos to Santiago). I was 68. Like you, I used this forum extensively to plan my walk. I think the best piece of information I got was in a particular post: "the key to a successful and...

    Accomodation...or lack of

What a difference a month makes. I was in Azura on April 18. I was the only pilgrim in an albergue with 36 beds. I left Burgos on March 30 and arrived in Santiago on April 20. I never saw a full albergue. Of course, there is a reason for this. There were many cold, rainy, windy, and...

Rubber galoshes for walking in the mud on the Camino

I completed my Camino from Burgos to Santiago on April 20. There was a lot of mud after Ponferrada. We walked the roads sometimes to avoid the mud. Some places were flooded. People with various shoe types and gear all had wet feet. Makes for great stories over a beer and I loved my Camino.

Madrid to Burgos by bus or by train?

I'm making that same trip this Wednesday and taking the bus. I made the trip from Burgos to the airport last fall. Alsa picks you up at T-4 and the Burgos bus station is about two blocks from the cathedral. As noted in another reply, the trip is about two and a half hours.
