    Looking for advice from Logrono

Just don’t forget to hum the Nájera theme song when you pull into town. “I pulled into Nájera, was feelin' about half past dead I just need some place where I can lay my head Hey mister, can you tell me where a man might find a bed …”

Navarette -- Hostels? looking for the 11th Oct from Logrono

We stayed here. I was too sick to stay in an albergue, but also too sick enjoy such a beautiful place, unfortunately. https://www.booking.com/hotel/es/casa-peregrinando-navarrete.html

    Prep year planning group

I am not familiar with that book, but it would seem to at least be a place to start.

    Prep year planning group

Absolutely! Basic travelers’ Spanish is so important. (I can’t believe I forgot this in my suggestions!)

    Merino fans > Costco deal

@BROWNCOUNTYBOB I wish! My husband would love one like the ones I bought for myself. I will also keep an eye out and thank you to @trecile for your kind offer.

    Merino fans > Costco deal

I have not seen this exact item or this brand at Costco before. I might have missed them previously, but I don’t think so.

    Merino fans > Costco deal

@Caligal No, but I believe there is a slight surcharge if you aren’t a member. If you know someone who is a member, I believe they allow guest purchases, but not completely sure how that works.

    Merino fans > Costco deal

Heads up on a great buy! This pure merino top for ladies is available now at Costco. It’s well made and beautiful and would make a perfect base or mid layer. It’s quite thin, though they call it a sweater. At only US$20 in the store, a bit more online, it’s a super buy. Compared to Smartwool...

    O Cebreiro not O'Cebreiro

@Camino Chrissy I agree completely, especially about the maps. It’s just if you’re using a guide book by a self proclaimed mystic, it’s a buyer beware situation. 🤣🤣🤣

    O Cebreiro not O'Cebreiro

I have found that Brierley has all the accuracy and detail that one would expect of a mystic.

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2021?

I took a tumble and haven’t walked for a while due to a very badly bruised leg. I’ll spare you a photo of the gory damage, lol. I’m doing better, so yesterday I climbed a small mountain with my hiking group, with beautiful scenery all around. The group has transitioned from hiking in the...

Rest day after travelling to start point?

We definitely like to have 2-3 nights rest before we start walking. It takes time to travel from Madrid (or wherever you arrive) to get to SJPP (or wherever you start the Camino) and to take care of last minute things. A little buffer is also good to have if your luggage is delayed, which did...

    On the road again...?

    Buen Camino! Sounds like fun!

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2021?

I walked to the local produce stand the other day. It’s 4 miles/6 km round trip with a bit of a hill, and I really should do it more often.

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2021?

Does this help? Rainier isn’t really visible from this spot just north of the Columbia River except on perfectly clear days and then it is tiny. Mt. Hood is easily visible, and Saint Helens just barely.

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2021?

I edited my post to clarify. 🙂

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2021?

From an outing last weekend. We went on walks, but this was taken from a pullout along the highway. It’s Mount Adams in south central Washington state.

    Blister advice please

That’s quite high. As a point of reference, almost exactly two years ago, I went to the fancy private hospital in Burgos for a consultation and two X-rays. The X-rays were expensive, like €60-70 each, but the total bill was not more than about €200. However, I remember something the...

Learning Spanish - Methods, resources, experiences, etc.

@Faye Walker I can’t help it either … 😁 … professional linguist here … but “diacritic” is the term for the whole group of marks placed above and below and sometimes through letters to indicate a difference in pronunciation, of which accent marks are only one type. Other examples are the tilde...
