Poll CdM vs CdF for a first timer in march.

If you like Roads Less Travelled go with the Madrid. I have never walked the Frances. I have spent many happy days on the Madrid, the Mozarabe, the Via de la Plata and Del Cid. I am hoping to return to the Lana when we are let out of Australia. Maybe next year.

    Camino Mozarabe 2016

Some places we stayed in March 2015: Moclin - Hostal Rural Albergue - at the end of town, very comfortable, very friendly. Alcala la Real - Hostal Rio de Oro. Two other good hotels in this town. Alcaudete - Hospedería Castillo de Alcaudete - only double rooms. Very comfortable and very...

    bus from Casar de Caceres

I recommend getting the bus from Caceres to Casar de Caceres (Monday to Friday). Timetable: http://www.norbabus.com/principal.aspx?viene=UnaLinea&id_linea=1 Beware Saturdays (only 2 buses) and Sundays (none) and public holidays. The first few km out of Caceres are on a very busy road that I...

Camino Madrid - second time around

In Peñaflor de Hornija tonight and delighted to report the albergue is excellent. As is the albergue in Alcazaren. Very clean and comfortable. We are so fortunate to have the people of these towns take care of us so well. Walking conditions have been very good - the recent rain has made the sand...

Camino Madrid - second time around

I am thoroughly enjoying this Camino 2 years and 2 weeks after the first time. I started in Cercedilla - the walk over Fuenfria was still arduous but a delight to do it with my son, who is now living in Spain and my friend David, an ex military type. At the bottom of the hill he pointed out...
