We got most of this this all straightened out on the great Virtual Planning thread. The Lana comes into Santo Domingo de Silos, and from there goes to Covarrubias and on the Mecerreyes. But I do have a question, so bear with me, sorry.
For anyone who wants to take a detour to visit the newly...
Some may have noticed that I am down in the Lana rabbit hole. :p I am hopeful that 2023 will be the year I finally get to walk from Alicante. It was planned for 2020, but that was a no-go. In 2021 and 2022, I could only manage a fall camino and I decided to save the Lana for a spring walk...
Note to all — Thanks to a heads up from @C clearly, I realized that for many years I have been writing MeRcerreyes, when the proper spelling is Mecerreyes. I have gone back through all forum posts and edited every occurrence of “Mercerreyes” since it really did mess up with the search function...
I've just been watching a fascinating documentary on Netflix about the volunteer rehabilitation of this rather iconic film location, the final scene of "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly". I'm curious to know if anyone has visited this place, which is only about 5km from Santo Domingo de Silos...
Any thoughts about Salmeron to Trillo via Tetas de Viana in one stage? Salmeron - Viana de Mondejar - Teta Redonda - Trillo. Salmeron to Trillo appears to be circa 30 kms via the standard routing. Ascent and descent another 2 to 3 hours? Long day but possible? Much would depend on weather...
Hello everyone and welcome back to my channel!
In less than a week I travel to Valencia to start the Camino de la Requena. It is an alternative to the Ruta de la Lana. The Camino de la Requena starts in Valencia and joins the Lana in Monteagudo de las Salinas.
Why? Because the Lana is my...
Please go to my post of May 5, 2023, further down in the thread for the most recent updates. The polideportivos are open!
There are several excellent threads (some live from the camino) and websites that provide plenty of information for people who might want to start the Lana in a less...
The virtual pilgrims on the virtual Camino Lana have reached the Capilla de San Olav (Hermitage chapel of Saint Olaf) near Covarrubias. It has a Marmite reputation. How do you feel about it? (Poll closes in 7 days).

The current virtual Lana thread is still very far from Sigüenza, but I wanted to plant the seed in everyone’s mind that taking the Sigüenza alternative about a week after Cuenca is the best choice by far...
This from another thread:
OK, I can't resist, Laurie.
This time you must go the long way from SDdS to Covarrubias! Of all the days I've spent on the camino, this is in the top 5. Up there with the Tunel San Adrian, Pancorbo, and going down to the Rio Miño and back up again.
Somewhere I posted...
As I have started poking around my Lana route (hopefully I will start from Alicante in mid May), I see that a church that has been on my wish list for decades is about 35 kms from Retortillo. I think that is the closest that the Lana gets to it. San Baudelio is the church whose early...
...Lana so far. No real mountains, I know, but I am seeing a few alternatives that might be rewarding. I have seen both @BP and, I think @Kevin F. O*brien mention a little detour to climb up the two anatomically named peaks. Looks like about 400 m up.
Wikiloc trails make it look very doable...
Rather than walking straight from Alicante, it is possible to start the Ruta de la Lana camino at either Benidorm (at the church of Santiago) or Villajoyosa, taking about 110km to join the main route at Villena.
I started at Villajoyosa yesterday morning, after an hour's tram ride from central...
Of course I am referring to the film "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" which was filmed in Spain. I am particularly interested in the "Sad Hill Cemetary " near Burgos which was constructed by Spanish soldiers for the climactic scene of the film. Has anyone made a side trip there, is it worth it...
