    Madrid Hotel Storage

I need to leave a very small bag (about half the size of a carry on suitcase) in Madrid for up to 17 days. I am having no luck with hotels I’ve asked. Has anyone else done this in Madrid and if so, could you please share the name of the hotel? (I’m only walking a section and I’m not going to...

    Winter Packing List

If you have a smart phone you could ditch the kindle. I read books from an app on my phone which worked well for me.

Hi from Camino newbie in Alberta 🇨🇦

I’m from Alberta (Red Deer) and did most of the Frances in October. I’m headed back in March to complete a section I skipped. Although there are some steep climbs it isn’t like hiking in the Rockies. I had problems with my feet and ended up switching to running shoes which worked well - so no...

Where to buy quilt in Madrid?

Thanks for the info about the bureaucracy. I will get a sleeping bag from Decathlon if I must but I strongly prefer a quilt.

Where to buy quilt in Madrid?

I’d like to buy a lightweight down sleeping quilt but I’m currently travelling so I either need to buy it in Madrid when I arrive or purchase it online and have it shipped there. Does anyone know where I can buy one - or - do you know if I can purchase it online and have it shipped to a hotel in...

Poncho quandary — Altus, Frogg Toggs, Vaude, or something else?

This sounds intriguing since I hate ponchos. Did you have any rainy/windy days? And I’m also wondering if you could explain how you zip tied it to your pack? I can’t visualize where/how you’d do that. Thanks!!!

Help - possibly need new shoes

Thanks everyone. I cut away the rubber part of the shoe and cut a slit in the remaining fabric and that seemed to have resolved the problem. Now I will duck tape them for water-proofing. I also have TEVAs I could wear short-term. If I have troubles along the way I’ll buy new shoes in Pamplona...

Help - possibly need new shoes

I actually have very narrow feet and if I go much bigger I’ll be swimming in them. If I can make these ones work by cutting the problem area I’ll be very happy! They are good stuff shoes with grippy soles.

Help - possibly need new shoes

Thanks for this idea. I actually have very narrow feet. It’s just that one spot that is an issue. I checked and I think with an exacto knife I can stop away the hard rubber that seems to be the issue, the I’ll cut slits if I still need more room. I’ll try burning the edges - I also thought I...

Help - possibly need new shoes

Thanks very much for the store names. I have a couple of good options now so hopefully I won’t have to shell out more money for new shoes but if I do I’ll know where to go. Again, thanks!

Help - possibly need new shoes

Doing the Camino Fances was a spontaneous decision so I didn’t have time to break in shoes. I bought a pair I got them a half size big and they fit well overall but are are now causing pain (I have a slight tailor bunion). There is hard plastic on that part of the shoe so I’m not sure it will...

LIVE from the Camino My Camino Francés, starting in SJPP

That's exciting, Bettyvel! Would you mind providing some updates on the Albergue situation - or sharing anything the tourism office told you? I hear that many municipal albergues are closed and that reservations are recommended for the others. I'm just curious how tough it is to find...
