Hi @emma,
If you are in good shape and a fast walker, you will be passing lots of people. I find as a slow walker that I don't often see the same pilgrims two nights in a row. Everyone has their own pace and I feel confident you will meet plenty of people at this time of year.
Ok, another question about winter. I received my Sandy Brown guide and will look into getting the more updated English language Italian published one that is not as easily available in the US.
Looks like quite a few winter lodging options even between the indicated stages. Was this your...
I haven't been there for more than 20 years now, but I don't remember paying to walk the walking path? I remember the train was reasonable though.
Phil and I are thinking of making a brief visit next winter before we walk some of the VF.
Yes, we've had those smaller packs and were not very satisfied. Rarely lasted what the packaging indicated due to my husband's higher pressure requirements.
Another option is if you will stay in Madrid on your return to request storage at your return hotel. Ours did charge us for this service, but sounds like you will pay for some kind if shipping and storage anyway.
There are storage options in Madrid. Most I have seen were near the Atocha...
This depends. My husband and I both have larger battery packs we use in our camper or for car camping. Mine lasts 3 days and his is a larger battery (he uses higher pressures) and it lasts 7 days without recharging. The batteries are both too large to carry on a Camino, but they portable enough...
Good for you! You took a shake down hike and found some things you need to correct! Remember, you'll be walking day after day, so these kind of adjustment and readjustment trips will make the final path easier in the long run.
Give yourself some time, make the changes and try again soon. My...
I have one like this. It is not powered. Can plug in my CPAP and also use it to charge my phone, but I don't have an Iphone. Do you need 4 ports? Can you just charge two things at a time?
Edit: I looked on Amazon and the same company also has a similar adapter with a plug for Iphone chargers.
My husband also has a similar requirement and he downloads and prints off the information from his travel machine and provides it. I don't know if that will work for you though. He has to provide it to the Veterans hospital here in the US.
I have seen people who carry their big machines so it...
Hi @SoozKH ,
My husband and I are both CPAP users. He has used his many years and I have only been using one the last 3 years. We both have travel machines and we use them a for lot for things like the Camino, camping trips, etc. These are small machines that weigh a couple of pounds with all...
Looks like bus to San Sebastian and then bus from there to airport. Try putting it into one of the travel engines like Google maps or Rome to Rio for details. Looks like more than one option depending on your timing.
I budgeted 25 euros per day/each for my college student group of 12 this winter. We stayed at Xunta albergues (10 euros per night) in Galicia and ate together as a group every night. We only had two pilgrim meals the whole trip (both were 13 euros) and the rest of the time we ordered either...
It is possible that your United flight will not arrive at T4 and will likely arrive at T1. You will need to clear customs and then take the interterminal shuttle bus to T4 where the bus terminal is located. These buses leave from right outside T1 on the lower level and run regularly. It is...
Winters, I have a down bag. Summers, I use a silk liner bag. Last year I used my rain poncho as an extra cover over my liner bag on cold nights (yes, cold even in late June).
Your plan of a liner and a decathlon blanket sounds good. Some people put the blanket inside the liner so it won't fall...
As a volunteer during a busy time, I would find it difficult to keep up with this especially at an albergue site with no wifi. Some of you serving will need to let us know how effective it is. Thanks in advance from a hopeful hospitalera!
I will start with question #2.
I think it depends on your personal budget and type of lodging. If you cook for yourself frequently and are fine with albergue beds, you can manage with 25 to 35 euros per day average. If you are shipping a bag and staying in private rooms it will be quite a bit...
