    Now this is 'Serious' Training!

Love this and also prefer private rooms for all the same reasons but occasionally staying in albergues has definitely provided some memorable moments. Planning to walk VdlP next year so might see you there.

    Camino del Norte from Australia

Hi Dan, We booked flights with Qatar - Perth, Madrid, San Sebastián and return Santiago,Madrid,Perth on the one ticket. The internal flights in Spain are with Iberia. It worked well and we caught a taxi from San Sebastián airport to Irun . Only a short walk but after such a long flight the taxi...

    Getting to Villaviciosa

Thank you. I have read your descriptive blog of the walk . Our daughter and her husband and two young sons ( now living in the UK ) have rented a house in Romillo and when I saw it was on a Camino path the walking addiction started me researching options to get there ... it is less than two...

    Getting to Villaviciosa

Thanks. Unfortunately there is no easy way to get there but I will look at flights to Asturias airport. Last flight was Perth - Madrid - San Sebastián so would be similar but with a bus trip too. I would just walk from Madrid if I had the time but that’s a Camino for next year.

    Getting to Villaviciosa

Hello forum members, I am thinking about walking the Camino Covadonga in July before meeting family who have rented a house in Asturias. I have previously walked the Norte from Irun and the Primitivo from Oviedo so it would be a good way to walk for a few days before the holiday. I would...

Veer Off to the Primitivo or?

I walked the Primitivo from Oviedo last year which was wonderful and then walked Camino del Norte from Irun this year and was really pleased to stay on the Norte. Most pilgrims were staying on the Norte mainly due to the weather ( early April ) and thinking Primitivo would be too cold. If you...

New free camino app: Wisely - Camino Forum Places

I used the app very successfully in March/April this year walking the Camino Norte and I didn’t have mobile data, only wifi when available. It showed exactly where I was which was very useful several times when I somehow went the wrong way. Highly recommend. Enjoy the Norte . It is a beautiful...

Which route from Soto de luiña

Thanks everyone for your quick replies. I ended up walking the coastal route ( as advised strongly by Pepe in Soto de Luiña ) since all the pilgrims I asked were going that way. Weather was fine but there had been rain so it was a lot of muddy trails and crossing streams and constant up and down...

New free camino app: Wisely - Camino Forum Places

I have just started the Camino del Norte and so far the app is brilliant. I can offline track wherever I am and it’s already proved very useful and reassuring.

    First credencial stamp in Irun

Thanks for all the info. I am pleased that the albergue will be open. The guidebook suggested that it wouldn’t open until Easter and I was beginning to worry that accomodation might become difficult.

    First credencial stamp in Irun

Thanks. I am arriving at night after a long flight so thought I would stay in Irun and slowly start the next morning and only walk to Hondarribia and have a relaxing afternoon there. The following day walk to San Sebastián. I don’t want to overplan the journey but would like to be organised for...

    First credencial stamp in Irun

I am starting in Irun in March this year and since the albergue will not be open I would like to know if there is a church where I can get my first stamp in the credencial. Any tips from others who have previously walked in March would be much appreciated. I imagine there will be lots of rain...
