I’m in Villafranca de Los Barros and am feeling uninspired. The terrain has been the same for days and these towns have been sleepy. Please, I’m not complaining, I’m just reporting how I feel. I don’t want to continue walking just to walk. I am considering catching a bus or taxi to another town...
I will be arriving in Madrid at 9am and will likely want to immediately rest because of the travel and time change. Can any of you recommend a place to stay that has an early check-in?
I'll be walking the VdlP for the first time in a couple of weeks. Starting in Sevilla, hoping to make it to Cañaveral. Do you have any tips for me? Places to see, pilgrim's mass, albergues to stay in, history of the route... etc. I'd appreciate any comments you can leave! Robin
I have 16 days later this month to walk the camino. I've done this before so am not focused on reaching Santiago. I really love the quieter routes. My biggest concern is I don't want to be cold or wet. Suggestions?
I just finished packing for my third Camino and rather than make another packing video, I've created an update on what I'm doing differently; things I'm leaving behind and new things I'm taking. You can view it here!
Please consider subscribing as I'll be posting videos along the way! Buen...
I posted my last video, Arriving in Santiago of my latest Camino on YouTube today. It was a bittersweet one to make. I hope to inspire others to walk the Madrid Camino as it was such a joy accomplish! I am home now missing my daily walk. I'll be back! I'm positive! I hope you enjoy this...
I know this question sounds silly but it’s been bugging me for a while. I keep on reading about towns that have what used to be a pilgrims hospital that are now museums, or used for other things. Are they meaning a hospital, as in the place where the sick are treated, or do they really mean...
We have the choice to arrive in Santiago on a Sunday or a Monday. Which would be better? I ask because maybe there will be businesses closed on Sunday that we would like to have open. Robin
I finished the Madrid route a few days ago and now am walking towards Santiago on the French route. Honestly, I’m struggling with the change. I thought I would enjoy having more people around but the truth is although there are more people around, they don’t seem interested in striking up a...
Continuing on now that the heat wave has passed! I’m excited to travel to Valdestillas tomorrow and wondering if anyone else is on the Madrid route as well. I’ve had a couple of challenging segments with no places to stay in Ane or Coca, for different reasons. I’ve been posting videos on...
Quick question: is Gronze.com only in Spanish? I have a high school understanding of Spanish and can navigate with some success, but English is my preferred language and I'd like to get as much information from that site as possible because it's so highly regarded.
Hi All, I'm starting my trek from Madrid mid May and need to purchase hiking poles before I set out. Where in Madrid would you recommend I go to buy these? I'd like something close to Santiago Square where I'll be starting and likely lodging before I head out. So excited to be walking this route!
Hey there! Last year I walked the Camino with my Mira 32 backpack by Osprey. I love the mesh back panel and side pockets but the pack seemed a little short and round for my liking. I'm now wanting to try out another backpack and am stuck between the Talon 33 and Tempest 34, in both their...
