All the single ladies, all the single ladies

I'm a 64 year old solo female walker who finished the CF last Autumn. I slept in albergues all along the way and there's always a giggle when I tell people that I shared a room with 3 men from UK, France and Korea!! I love those experiences. Was I afraid at times? Yes, since we had to leave...

How to get a Compostela without the crazy 100 k

I finished my first pilgrimage on All Hallows Eve 2022 mesmerized by the Cathedral in Santiago de Compestela! I walked 60 days from SJPdP and by October 31st the crowds had trailed off. I never prebooked Sarria to Santiago. Yes, I saw the buses, the singing school groups, the excited...

Bathtubs and Other Essentials While on the Camino!

My first bathtub was in Villafranca del Bierzo at the Hotel Moncloa! It use to be a Pilgrim hospital and now a nice hotel and restaurant. It was truly a luxury and I cried when I saw it.

Your Ideal First Aid Kit for the Camino

I celebrated my retirement as a 40 year career nurse walking the CF. I took way too much in my first aid/medicine kit! I over prepared by taking bandaids, moleskin, tape. I gave all of it away because I walk so slowly that I don't cause friction which then can cause blisters. I did take and...

    My only regret walking

I just finished solo walking the Camino Frances on October 31st after 60 days of walking by myself! It was meditative, lovely, lonely, miserable and glorious. It was exactly what I hoped for to celebrate my retirement after 40 years working as a RN. My husband was not interested in this...

    Enough time in Santiago?

I arrived in SdC at 1430 today October 31st. I enjoyed seeing pilgrims coming into the plaza for an hour. I checked into my hotel and then went to the Pilgrim Office at 1630. I was #4 in line. The office was nearly empty. I found everyone helpful. The QR scan was slow so I was encouraged to...

Camino or Pilgrim Museum on the Meseta?

I also saw a multimedia presentation in a church in Castrojeriz. It was a history of pilgrims and the Camino. The church had a beautiful ceiling for the MilkyWay presentation. I think the ethnography institute did several of these over numerous towns.

Lost & Found Lost Passport on CF

Absolutely not worry others! I have plenty of time and now a trip to Barcelona is on my itinerary. I still would love to see that lost passport but if not it's okay.

Lost & Found Lost Passport on CF

According to the US Embassy website, if you have lost passport you need a face to face appointment. Fortunately I have some wiggle room since my flight back is on the 15th November.

Lost & Found Lost Passport on CF

I lost my US passport between Uterga and Puente la Reina on Tuesday Sept 12 or 13th. The albergue helped me contact the Guardia Civil which then provided me with necessary documentation to continue. Please keep your eyes open and if found turn into the Guardia. They have all my information...
