    Travel health insurance for canadian

Do you have private insurance on top of your provincial health insurance from your workplace? If you do, give them a call to inquire about Covid-19 coverage. Ours (Green Shield Canada) temporarily modified its coverage to include Covid-19 related medical expenses.

    Lugo to Santiago

We did the last 100km from Lugo this last September. It was very quiet until we reached Melide. We met probably 15 people total. We actually enjoyed meeting other pilgrims once we reached Melide, so much so that if we were to do Camino again in the future, we'd choose Camino Frances.

Bus tours of Finisterre and Muxia

We were thinking about the bus tours too but some members of this forum suggested the we rented a car. We decided to rent a car from the Santiago airport at the last minute. It was a good decision. The car rental was less than 40€ and we had the freedom to explore Pontevedra, Cambarro and all...

    Flights out of Santiago

It's cheap (about 50€ ), multiple flights a day to Madrid and generous carry-on baggage allowance.

    Flights out of Santiago

I'd would take the chance but using Iberia Airlines instead of Ryanair. Iberia Airlines is part of Oneworld Alliance. We took Iberia Airlines last month from Santiago to Madrid - it was very affordable and on-time.

    Vodafone a nightmare

We just finished our Camino (last 100km from Lugo) last September. We are from Canada and had no issue using our credit cards (issued also by Scotiabank) in Portugal and Spain. We also had no issue with Vodafone. We bought 20€ SIM card from Porto airport. It worked well in Portugal, Spain and...

Tour Provider to Finisterre, Muxia, Costa da Morte

We don't need to book in advance? We can just book on the day we arrive in Santiago and do the tour the next day? Thank you.

Tour Provider to Finisterre, Muxia, Costa da Morte

We were exploring the car rental option but since the pandemic started and resulted in car shortage, it's no longer worth renting one. The price quoted was exorbitant ($300+/day from Sixt for example). Thus, we're looking for recommendation for tour providers. Google search yields too many...

Tour Provider to Finisterre, Muxia, Costa da Morte

We're thinking of taking a day trip from Santiago de Compostela after our Camino. Could you recommend a good and reliable tour provider to Finisterre, Muxia, Costa da Morte and Ezaro waterfall? Thank you.

If I want to use the bag transport service do I need to book in advance?

We book the bag transfer in advance because we book our lodgings in advance. We decided to use Pilbeo for our upcoming Camino in September. The contact person there seems very nice and responsive. The website is also easy to navigate. We contacted Caminofacil too but it's not responsive to our...

Using a Cell Phone in Portugal: Tips for Traveling Canadians

Depends on the plans subscribed. In Canada, the phone plans are not as generous as the ones in Europe or USA. I cannot roam free even when I travel to USA. My Canada phone company charges $12/day or $15/day to roam in USA and international respectively. So, it's wise to buy a local SIM whenever...

Using a Cell Phone in Portugal: Tips for Traveling Canadians

I hope that Portugal Vodafone has updated its roaming capabilities to Spain. It seems so from what @auburnfive has updated in this forum. We will spend 3 days in Porto before leaving for Lugo to start the Camino. I'd like to avoid buying a new SIM in Spain if possible. Thanks for the heads-up.

Using a Cell Phone in Portugal: Tips for Traveling Canadians

Thank you for the update. I was wondering about buying SIM card from Portugal (Porto airport) and use it in both Portugal and Spain. So, everything worked perfectly fine at the end? I have both Android phone and iPhone that I can use. May I know which provider to use? Is it Vodafone? Thank you...

    Public Transport in Lugo

Yes, we're driving a rental car to Lugo from Vigo, with a detour to As Catedrais beach. I just talked to the rental car company. They might be able to drop off us back to Lugo hostel/Muralla Romano for free or can call taxi for us if no one is available to drive us back. What a relief. It...

    Public Transport in Lugo

I noticed that there is no public bus service in Lugo. I will have a rental car until Lugo. However, the car rental return location is quite far from the hostal I will be staying. It's almost 4km to Porta Falsa in Lugo. Therefore, is there any taxi, Uber etc that I can take from the car rental...

    Camino Primitivo starting from Lugo

First timers on Camino de Santiago. We plan to start our "100km" walk from Lugo instead of Sarria after much consideration. Are we still eligible for the "Compostela" at the end of the walk? The distance from Lugo to Santiago de Compostela seems to be slightly less than 100km. Thank you.
