    Camping on the Camino?

There was a German man and his dog who camped out each night somewhere along the Camino. I ran into him in SDC, so he made it without much issue.

    Bed bug alert!

I stayed here without any bed bug issues in August. Hopefully they take care of it.

    PSA: Wear Chacos!

perhaps not. Old, but not that old, perhaps well-worn. I definitely wasn't doing 13 mile runs in them before the Camino though.

    PSA: Wear Chacos!

Sarria to Santiago you say. Hmmmmm. In the spirit of 'do as I say and not as I do'. I, too, jogged the downhill into Triacastela in my Chacos.

    PSA: Wear Chacos!

To each their own. If I hadn't washed mine each day = very foul smelling. I found a daily wash and sun dry to help with the odor.

    PSA: Wear Chacos!

Definitely heavier, but I appreciate the burly sole when walking on rocky trails (both before and during the Camino).

    PSA: Wear Chacos!

This is a public service announcement for any aspiring pilgrims who are considering making their journey in a pair of Chacos. DO IT! As you prepare, you'll probably be reading the same sandal criticisms that I read on various forums. I suspect that these opinions come from sandal hating...

If I were to detour and walk from melide to sabrado to visit the monestary and then walk back to melide to continue along the Frances, would that jeopardize qualifying for the compestetla?

    Catholic albergues and spots

Yes, Toledo is fantastic. I am flying out of Madrid but won’t be able to see Toledo, however I’ve been before. Did you by chance come across any Mozarabic masses along the Camino Frances? I’ve been on the look out for that in particular.

    Critique my packing

That’s incorrect. Ive known plenty of people - including myself - who have used bladders with electrolytes. You just clean it. Anyways, I said I have a 250ml electrolyte solution In a separate container to my bladder. Some of you are a bit stringent when it comes to certain ideas about...

    Critique my packing

I’m on the move already. Personally, I’m happy with a bladder and a 250ml electrolyte concentrate. 100F through this Sunday. 2 liters has not lasted that longer during this heat wave.

    Critique my packing

Pack and bladder are working out fine. My shoes on the other hand….well, it’s on to the Chacos. There will be a worn pair of la sportive trail runners sitting on the sidewalk of Pamplona if anyone wants some.

    Catholic albergues and spots

Aside from the obvious, what are some unmissable albergues or experiences for Catholics? Are there any retreat spots along the way? As an example, I missed out on Zabaldika, but I wish I would have known about the sisters of the sacred heart and their albergue. They seem to be a bit off...

    Critique my packing

Correct, just didn’t list some small odds and end like a cable and plug.
  17. C

    Critique my packing

Yes, differently and slightly larger pack. Still no hip belt, though.

    Catholic trinkets in SJPP

What's the availability of Catholic trinkets in SJPP; prayer cards, cross necklaces, and St. James pendants? I see that there are plenty of options to buy trekking items, but curious about these, as I hope to purchase them as I begin the Camino.
