I have had good success using booking.com ... you can enter your price range to narrow down selections. We have stayed in private rooms in hostels and pensions that have been every bit as nice as in good hotels. Check reviews!
I'm 77 and can envision another Camino too. It will be fairly slow, probably a few weeks long and accomodations will be in small albergues and pensions, a room with a private bathroom and breakfast included. This will make for a pleasant journey. Be in tune with what is sensible for you.
walk out of Porto, it's interesting, scenic and there are lots of places to stop and explore along the way.
I agree, I loved following the river out to the sea ... then turn right and follow the ocean north, 😎 it's a lovely walk.
That's the beauty of the Altus ... it's a raincoat cut to wear over a backpack. We did a very off-and-on rainy Portuguese coastal Camino a few years ago and the Altus we're fabulous. Easy to slip on and off when the sun came out & your pack is always covered. They kept us dry in some torrential...
I have no problem with cyclists as long as they are courteous (announce their approach and not force walkers to the side). FYI, I have friends who biked the Camino and said they now wish they had walked as you see and experience more in a meditative walk
I use Booking.com to find accommodations and found numerous affordable options on the coastal route. Off-season you can get real deals and great hospitality in the seaside towns
Be prepared for some heavy rain during bo
I've walked at both times of the year and experienced some fairly heavy rain (intermittent) and some astounding beautiful days. Buen Camino
Try Ahnu Sugarpine II ... lightweight, sturdy, great tread and wears well. I also have a pair of Anhu Montara, also great hiking shoes though a bit heavier and with a stiffer sole.

I used an Altus on two quite rainy and windy Camino's and it was great. Because of the full zip front it's easy to slip off when the sun comes out. I leave it over the pack and tuck in the excess it so it's easy to get back on when necessary. Altus has sleeves so your arms stay dry and warm. ❤️
If you live in the USA, love to travel and are in the market for a new phone check out Google Fi. Their phones work seamlessly all over the world and data is $10 a gig. Use this code: 9X41NM and we'll both get a $20 credit!
A German friend we met on the Camino had a word for it ... buchsepausieren. I rather enjoy peeing in the woods and have since I was a child. I agree, squat and look at the stars or the leaves, etc. ... be one with nature.
